Send hyperlinks here working correctly?

Here is my scenario (I am on beta 6) - I have the results of a search against one of my own collections in the left pane, I click on a result, it comes up in the right pane. I set the "Send hyperlinks here" in the right pane. If I click a result from a different book in my search results, it opens a new tab! Shouldn't ALL clicks go to the tab I have selected that hyperlinks go to? This is supposed to let me click around all my results and not have 50 tabs open up if I don't want them, right?

I can confirm this. It works correctly (a you describe) in 4.0a, but something is broken in the beta.

Wrong! According to Help "The resource becomes the default destination for a data type reference." eg. a single dictionary becomes the source for word definitions. It's a way of by-passing prioritisation.

I like using Bible outlines, so I've created a layout for them.

I first created a collection called, 'Bible Outlines'. Next, I created
a layout - also called Bible Outlines. It has three panels. The first
is a basic search that says, 'Search all text in Bible Outlines' (my
Bible Outlines collection). The next panel is the actual book, The Outline Bible (hope this is not too confusing!). The final panel is the NIV text.

So, when I type a passage into the search panel that I want to see
various bible outlines for, I then get the appropriate list of
resources from my Bible Outlines collection - so that's fine. However,
when I click on any other resource in the search panel, other than the
book, The Outline Bible, the resource opens in my middle panel, but it gives me a separate tab - I want it to open in the same, Bible Outlines, tab.
I don't want a lot of tabs open across that middle panel. I did try
'send hyperlinks here' on the Bible Outlines book/tab, but that doesn't
prevent different resources from opening new tabs. Any way to prevent
this?

If I understand what you are saying, then this is by design.

The only thing "send hyperlinks here" does is if you click on a similar data type it will use that particular resource repeatedly...such as clicking on a greek word for lexical info after making BDAG exclusive via "send hyperlinks here" will cause all clicks like that to go to your open BDAG instead of another lexicon and another tab.

Setting 'send hyperlinks here' on the Bible Outlines tab only allows bible references in other resources to open there (not the resource itself). Clicking a bible reference in Search results will always open the resource.

Logos have yet to provide a reusable panel option!

Actually I'd like to be able to switch via a "ctrl click" sort of thing....

Click on resource; default is now pane

CTRL+Click: replaces reference in active pane.

Thanks for all your responses. I also emailed Morris Proctor with the same question and he agreed with what you all are saying - no current solution. I guess I'm just stuck with a bunch of tabs for now! Thanks for your time.

I am "on topic" according to the title, but perhaps "off topic" according to the OP--but I tried having 4 Bibles with "Send hyperlinks here" selected. When I clicked on a Bible reference in my commentary, it only changed the Bible text of the tab that was on top. The other "send hyperlink here" Bibles were still stuck on the previous verse. I searched and searched (as an MVP newbie) for info on the forums, but did not find one. I am sure a more esteemed MVP knows what to do . . . in the meantime, a work around would be to have the "send hyperlink here" Bibles coordinated as a link set ("B" or "C", etc)

When in doubt start a new thread, Dan. It increases the chance of getting attention from Logos especially if the OP did not preface the thread with Bug: or Suggestion: (whilst N/A here it is advice you can pass on to others!).

"Send searches here" is about the only tab that will get focus when not active. But what's wrong with using Parallel Resources? Put the bibles of interest in a collection, tick the Parallel Resources box and open one of them as the target. If necessary, click the PRS button to select your collection and then use the Right/Left arrow keys to move between them.
