Logos Bible Software 4 has stopped working

"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is abailable".

That's the message I get when trying to open LBS4 on my laptop. Anyone else have that problem? Dell inspiron 1525 laptop, Intel Centrino Core 2 duo, Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit), 4GB RAM.

It was runing well since november.

Hold down ctrl as you start Logos, keep holding it until the login screen appears choose start with blank layout. If it crashes, load the logs to the forum http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging

Are you sure you check the "Use Blank Layout" box? Your Logs look like it's trying to load the a homepage and then it crashes

You are right, when I check the "Use Blank Layout" box, I load the program and am able to use it properly. However, when I hit "Home" and the program tries to load the homepage, it stops working and crashes. I looked for updates and it said I am updated!

What should I do???

Delete the contents in this folder: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\<random>\HomePage

Logos should then rebuild the homepage content. BTW the AppData folder is hidden so you will have to enable viewing of hidden files and folders to navigate to it.

The homepage content probably got corrupted or there was a bug related to media on the homepage (fixed in the 4.0b beta now) that may have caused it. It's hard to say exactly what happened.

I have the same problem and have done exactly what you have done. Checked the box and it opened. Now I have deleted the contents of the file you typed out and it still crashes.

James, this log does not have any errors in it. Are you sure that it captured a Logos crash? If yes then it might not be directly a problem with Logos. There has been a couple of people recently with bad .NET installations from a recent MS update... you might try reinstalling/repairing your .NET/WPF in Windows. (However, these people didn't get as far into staring Logos up as it seems you did from your log.)

well, I am not sure that I captured a logos crash. Am I supposed to get the log when it crashes or when I succeed in opening it? I succeeded in opening it holding down the control key and then tried to go the home page. Should I delete the log and then see if one is created when it crashes?

Ok, there we have an error. Your specific problem is caused by a corrupt index. The way to fix this is to
make a new index.

If you can get Logos started type "rebuild index" into the command
line and hit enter (no quotes).

If you cannot start Logos, or if the indexer fails with the command, delete the contents of this folder:
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\<random>\LibraryIndex
and then start Logos, it will see that it doesn't have an index and
then will begin to build a new one.[Note: the AppData folder is hidden
so you will have to enable the viewing of hidden files and folders to
navigate to this folder.]
