I'm intrigue by a paragraph in this blog post:

With Logos Now you’ll get the features as we create them so you’ll always be on the forefront of Bible study, avoid breaking the bank, and for as long as you are a subscriber, you’ll never pay to upgrade again.

So it sounds like even if some of these features/datasets are rolled into a future base package or version crossgrade, Logos Now subscribers will not have to pay separately to "upgrade" to those particular features/datasets?

I wouldn't read that into the statement. If one has Logos Now there is no need to upgrade/cross-grade etc. You would still do so it you wanted ownership or if the discounted new resources made it worth your while.

True about the discounted resources. I'm just curious if Logos Now customers would still have to pay separately for those particular features/datasets in a future base package upgrade and/or crossgrade, or if Logos Now customers will get the purchase costs to those particular features/datasets waived if they continue to be a Logos Now customer (aka like dynamic pricing), ending up only paying for the new discounted resources come the next round of base package upgrades.

We know that you can continue to subscribe and not have to update to get features that were or are in Logos Now. It is possible that there will be no new features in Logos 7 etc. that are not in Now, therefore no need to pay for an upgrade unless you want to drop out of Now.

FL has discussed other scenarios including some form of crefit toward an upgrade but have not committed to anything specific AFAIK, so it would be speculation to say more.

Sorry for the confusing wording. This intent of the author, I think, was to communicate that you won't need to upgrade to stay up to date with the latest dataset, media, and interactive content, since all of it will be included in your Logos Now subscription. The comparison should have been made to crossgrading instead of upgrading, since crossgrading is largely about dataset, interactive, and media content that drives core functionality, while upgrading includes an expanded library of books. You're certainly welcome to upgrade/crossgrade if acquiring ownership of that content is important to you (and, in the case of upgrading, you want to expand your library). The point was that Logos Now can replace crossgrading for those who don't might subscribing to access and plan to continue a Logos Now subscription indefinitely. It was NOT to communicate that you'd get a free upgrade as a bonus of being a Now subscriber.

I'll talk to the team about updating the post and being clearer in the future.

Thanks for the clarification. One interesting "option" you could offer in the next major Logos release is a "books only" base collection upgrade route. All of our features and datasets would remain included in our Logos Now subscription, and instead of us having to "re-purchase" the features and datasets on top of having a Logos Now subscription, we could simply purchase an upgrade that only includes access to all the new discounted books.

Non Logos Now subscribers could still direct purchase the Crossgrade to get the datasets and features.

Hee hee! Sounds great. If I knew I could upgrade to future base package and just pay for the books and just keep all my features and datasets in Logos Now, that'd be great. I'd also be interested in having future base packages mirror Logos Cloud plans and move my next base package upgrade entirely into Logos Cloud.

We've been considering a book-only version of each of our packages, which we may call research libraries or something similar, for exactly this audience.

The main reason that I have not yet subscribed to Logos Now is that I don't have time to use the features in Logos 6, let alone the features available in Logos Now.

If Faithlife moves to a "books-only version" of its packages, that will move me toward Logos Now, ***as long as*** there are not features missing in Logos Now that are available in the traditional packages. I think I'd really like this idea, as it would more sharply distinguish between features and resources. But that's just off the top of my head...

That's excellent news. Given that, as long as that includes full-feature availability in Logos Now when L7 (for example) comes out, then I'll move to Logos Now as soon as I have some time to explore the features.

Please keep us up-to-date if plans for "resource only" base packages become more concrete.
