Does Logos 4 work on netbooks very well?
I run it on a Samsung N110, with 2GB ram, for me its very usable, 90% of my L4 use is netbook
Although there are sometimes (rare - maybe once every 20-30mins) not responding windows for complex things/blanks while it redraws, I can live with it, but if you expect "perfect" evert time then NO dont do it, buy a decent laptop instead.
IMO, Dont even think of running it with 1GB ram, its like molasses in winter
I run on an ASUS Eee 1005HA with 2GB of RAM (upgraded from the basic 1 GHz...you'll definitely need 2). Like Dominic much of my use (probably 50%) is on the netbook and it is not as responsive as on a more robust computer, but I find that after an initial slow startup it moves pretty well (keep your automated report generation to a minimum).

I would suggest that you spend some time looking at the videos posted in this wiki page. John Fidel has some good videos that will help you set up your workspace in ways that don't require as many resources. What you don't want to do if you use a netbook or slower computer is go to the home page, enter your biblical reference and enter go. That opens up lots of marvelous stuff, but it drags slower computers down. The Power Lookup and Information windows that are opened will be very slow on an underpowered machine.
I run it on a Gigabyte T1028 (netbook/tablet) with 2 GB memory and am very satisfied with its operation. I had L3 and L4 installed on a more substantial laptop, but the mouse buttons broke and I sent it in for repair. Though it has been returned, a family emergency has not allowed me to reinstall. The result has been that my only LOGOS installation has been the L4 on the netbook for the past month. I have been okay with it, the biggest problem is the limited screen size with a netbook. I suppose, if I had and external 19" monitor, there would be no problem whatsoever.
Blessings,
Floyd
I run L4 exclusively on an Asus EEE PC 1101, with a memory upgrade to 2G. With a few tweaks, and making allowances such as not opening L4 to the homepage upon startup, I am extremely satisfied with how well it runs. It's not lightning-fast, but neither is it tortoise-slow. I would echo what's previously been stated -- if you go the netbook route, upgrade memory to 2G.
Just my 2 centavos.
Silly question: is 2GB the industry max on a netbook?
The leading netbook at Amazon can only use up to 2GB of ram. I believe that Intel has a fair amount of influence on what kind of machine can use the Atom procesor.
Sillier question: how long before the 2GB of ram then becomes 3 and 4GB ram?

I have an IBM X100e Thinkpad and am clueless how to even get Logos 4 on the device. How does this work? Not very tech savvy...
Jeff T.
Jeff,
I'm not familiar with that item, it looks like a netbook when I googled it though.
Assuming you have internet access you can install the program as with any PC by downloading and running the installer from here:
http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/Installer/Logos4Setup.exe

Thank you for the link for the installer. It took 11.5 hours to download nearly 7gigs of resources and then another 3-4 to index. It seems to work fine except that the home page does not display. Thanks again. I'm working on my doctoral dissertation and being able to take Logos with me in such a portable format is a Godsend.
The ThinkPad is by IBM/Lenovo and is one of their newest offerings. They call it a notebook, but it's really a netbook. It has 2gigs of RAM and 160g hard drive with an AMD Athlon Neo X2 dual-core 1.6ghz processor. I think I got that right.
Thanks again.
