Is there anything new we should know about in IPhone version 1.2.3, which I just downloaded.

    From the App Store:

    What's new in Version 1.2.3

    Improvements to offline reading:

    • Embedded images are now available offline
    • Reading plans are cached and available offline if they have been accessed while online.

I noticed that the little pictures of the book's cover shows up again when you are in the read tab.  I had one book that would show, and maybe two.  But the others showed the "no cover"

Now almost all of them show up.

Not in the library, however, there are still lots of missing covers.

I noticed on the Apps Store that it also lists that 1.2.3 stores offline books in a more compact format.  Do we need to manually download the books again (turn off online access then turn back on) to get the compacted format or is this automatic?

John, you will need to download the books again to get the more compact format and to get embedded images offline.

  • It seemed like the resources in the library loaded much more efficiently -- even automatically -- in Version 1.2.3.  That's a definite improvement.

Do books that are downloaded in the new compact format contain images, charts, and graphs that could not be downloaded in the previoius format?  I'm wondering if the improvement justifies a fresh download of my library offline library?

Adding the airplane icon to books with no cover is very helpful; but are there plans to provide book cover icons for all books?  In the "read" mode of the app you toggle back and forth between books by tapping the book covers.  If you are using several books with no cover, finding the book you want becomes a guessing game.

I am very glad for the changes. Thank you Logos. Now what we need is voice reading in iPhone Logos. That would be really great for reading books while driving a car.

Voice reading would be low on my wish list.

May be you haven't discovered that great tool in Logos yet. I have read a few books this way. I think it is great use of time while driving. Using notebook for that purpose is problematic if I use a regular HDD. I am afraid it can be broken by using it in the car. Yes, I know SSD HDD would solve the problem [:)]

Your right, I don't use it in Logos. Maybe I would change my mind if I did. I'll have to give it a try on a book.

The new book format does include embedded images, however not all image formats are supported on the iPhone. If an image doesn't appear while online, it won't appear while offline.

We're still working on updating cover images for the iPhone, however not all resources have cover images.

Thanks for the answer to my questions.

L4 is great!  The iphone app is icing on the cake.  Kudos, and thanks for all the hard work.

I love the ability to have the reading plans offline, however, I have noticed that I am no longer able to check of a daily reading for a plan.  Has anyone else ran into that issue?  If I am in my plan and I select a daily reading, it is not checked off on the plan after the reading is completed.  Am I missing something?

There should be a "mark read" link at the end of each reading. Tap it and it will be checked off.

Duh, missed that one.  Always looked left, not right.  Thanks for the tip.  Aahhhh, love this program more and more.
