Hey guys! In v.3 we could link our OneNote to Libronix.
Is there a way to do that is 4?
Say yes! Say yes!
If so, how?
Yes!
wiki.logos.com/hyperlinks
Well hooRAY for ME! [:D]
Thanks Kevin!
Is it possible to link in the opposite direction with onenote, like the notes work within Logos 4? In other words, if I've made a note on a specific verse, I want to see a marker in the text itself when I'm there, click on it, and it opens the note in onenote, or some other software. The way I think you might be able to do this is to take a link back to the note and paste it into the notes within Logos--that would still leave it as a two step process, open the note, then click on the link to get to the note in the external program--but the backlinks are the part of the note I find the most useful. If you use an external program for notes, you seem to lose that capability.
Ideas?
Russ
Not directly,
You can create a Note file in Logos that you can attach to verses and have hyperlinks to the relative extra-logos file. Logos recognizes file hyperlinks so for example, if you type c:\logos\logos.png in your note then it will recognize that it is a file hyperlink and make it blue so you can use ctrl + click to navigate to it.
Of course this does not give you the granular control that keeping notes in Logos does. Also, if you rearrange you files then you would break the links...
Can't you hyperlink to a specific paragraph in Onenote? I thought I saw an article about it someplace. From what I've seen online, you can select the text, then select "copy hyperlink," then you should be able to paste the hyperlink into the notes file in logos.
You said you can hyperlink as long as you don't rearrange your notes? That means that the hyperlinks into Onenote are tied to the note location, rather than the to the note itself? I wonder if Whizfolders is the same way? Of course, Logos won't copy the references correctly into something like Whizfolders, but...
I'm trying to find some alternate solution to the notes in Logos, but it doesn't seem like there's any sort of easy solution if you want links from the resources into the notes you've made.
You're right about OneNote, look under Edit, you'll find a number of hyperlink options that you can use.
When I mentioned not re-arraigning file locations I was thinking more about word processor documents. I checked out the onenote hyperlink and ran an experiment. I opened a notebook, created a hyperlink and pasted it into Word.
Then I moved the notebook to my desktop. I went back to Word and clicked the hyperlink. It opened OneNote but not to the correct place.
I then opened the moved notebook that was on the desktop and closed OneNote. I tried the hyperlink again and it opened to the correct place.
You're right, there's no easy way to do what you're looking to do, but it looks like OneNote has some interesting ways to do things.
I put a suggestion in the forum to allow direct hyperlinks from resources to outside software. If we could get that, then using an outside notes package would become very realistic. I know there are still issues with pasting references, and such, but that's just something else to work out, somehow. If we could get that one piece, I think it would help a lot--it would resolve all the issues with notes being synch'd to the third party server, and it would provide a way out for those who want truly feature rich note software... I think something like this would give me a lot more leverage in getting folks who are tech savvy interested in Logos.
Now, if MS would just send me the key for Office 2010, so I could load Onenote and start playing with it...
