I know that Logus provides a One Year Bible Reading Plan (OT NT Psalms Proverbs), but it does not match up with the one that our church is presently following--the One Year Bible Online.Com (OT NT Psalms Proverbs).  Is it possible to import/copy/create the One Year Bible Online.com plan into Logos 4?

Yes, check the wiki for examples.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I have been to wiki and looked at Reading Plans, but I am assuming that the OT/NT/Psalms/Proverbs reading plan that is there is the one that I have already prepared in Logos and discovered that it is not the same as the Reading Plan at http://www.oneyearbibleonline.com/.  However, if I am mistaken and the wiki reading plan is identical to the one at http://www.oneyearbibleonline.com/, I cannot find any help regarding the process of getting it loaded into Logos.  Thank you for your help.

Been to wike,  I still can't do what I want to do.  For example, for January 1, I would like to read Gen 1:1--2:25, Mt 1:1--2:12, Ps 1:1-6, Prov 1:1-6.  For January 2, I would like to read Gen 3:1--4:26, Mt 2:13--3:6, Ps 2:1-12, Prov 1:7-9.

I need to be able to create a specific  and unique reading plan to match up with the one that everyone in my church is doing.  When I copy "Ge–Job, Ec–Mal | Mt–Re | Ps | Pr," I get an OT, NT, Ps and Pr reading each day, but they do not match up with the reading plan that everyone in my church is reading.  If I need to, I will type out each day's reading plan, but I can't figure out how to do that, either.

You help would be greatly appreciated.

Does your Church follow a Lectionary?  If so, have you checked the appropriate Lectionary to see if it includes the reading plan?

I've not looked at any of the Lectionary since my Southern Baptist church doesn't use one.

When we have the ability to build our own lectionaries, we will be able to "abuse" the lectionary format to create a pseudo-reading plan but it won't behave quite like a reading plan. Lectionaries contain the readings for worship; many prayer books fit easily into their format. Some prayer books include an "Office of Readings" which include both Biblical and patristic readings. This is as close to a reading plan as I have seen in lectionaries.

None of the lectionaries currently in Logos include the Office of Reading - so good idea but not an immediate solution

You need to use one of the more elaborate chronological reading plans as your model i.e. create your entire reading list into one long string to paste into create reading plan.  There will still be some differences but you should be able to get very close. By the way, I already like your reading plan because it isn't based on chapter boundaries.[:)]

Note that the top of the page has a link to the wiki and you can do a search from there.

I’m a little dense.  I’m having trouble figuring out how to do this.  I pasted the following string in an attempt to set up Jan 1 and Jan 2:

    “Gen 1:1-2:25|Mt 1:1-2:12|Ps 1:1-6|Pr 1:1-6;Gen 3:1-4:26|Mt 2:13-3:6|Ps 2:1-12|Pr 1:7-9”

But that didn’t work.  Those two strings (separated by a semi-colon) were both spread out over Jan 1 and Jan 2.  For example, parts of both Gen 1 and Gen 3 were found on both Jan 1 and Jan 2.  Each verse reading was distributed over Jan 1 and Jan 2—all 8 verse readings.

Is there not some way that I could just type in the exact verse the way that I want it to occur for each day of the year?

The reading plan that I want to use is fairly common.  I use it with my Palm PDA (software provided by Laridian) and it is the same reading plan found at http://www.oneyearbibleonline.com/.  It happens to be the plan that my church has chosen to follow.

For example, here is what I would like the first five days to look like:

    Jan 1: Gen 1:1-2:25 | Mt 1:1-2:12 | Ps 1:1-6 | Pr 1:1-6

    Jan 2: Gen 3:1-4:26 | Mt 2:13-3:6 | Ps 2:1-12 | Pr 1:7-9

    Jan 3: Gen 5:1-7:24 | Mt 3:7-4:11 | Ps 3:1-8 | Pr 1:10-19

    Jan 4: Gen 8:1-10:32 | Mt 4:12-25 | Ps 4:1-8 | Pr 1:20-23

    Jan 5: Gen 11:1-13:4 | Mt 5:1-26 | Ps 5:1-12 | Pr 1:24-28

Can you give me some pointers as to how to do that or to at least get close?  How do I separate the days—with a comma, with a semi-colon, ????????

With the chronological plans, each day is separated by a comma, but each day has only one reading.  Each of my days has 4 readings.  Can you offer any help?

Hey, I have a copy of an American Baptist lectionary ... and while it is a bit of a stretch, would the African-American (multi-denominational) lectionary count?[:D]

I haven't played with it enough to have anything better to offer than to divide it into 4 plans. I hope someone with more experience with this feature will weigh in.

    Jim,

Did anyone ever get back to you on this?  If you've found a way to set up the oneyearbibleonline.com plan, please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Andrew,

I would really appreciate if you would post (for Dummies) how you successfully set set up the oneyearbibleonline.com reading plan. I also use this same reading plan and have to toggle between Logos 4 and oneyearbibleonline.com. Sometimes I just use the oneyearbibleonline.com reading software because its easier but would love to take advantage of the amenities in Logos 4 since I already have it.

The wiki has a clear explanation on how to create your own customized reading plan.  Go to this page http://wiki.logos.com/Reading_Plans and look for the heading

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for the reply. When I go to the WIKI and select the reading plan OT-NT-Psalms-Proverbs, it allows me to set up a reading plan but it is different from the Oneyearbibleonline.com reading plan. It is close, but its still a different reading plan even when I tweak the starting dates it lands me on a different day then  the OneYearBibleOnline.com Plan.  I see by the  original  poster that was trying to set up his reading plan to sync with oneyearbibleonline.com  had this same problem.  Any help would be appreciated

Having tripped over something and blown my day's study thought that I would add that the important thing is to finish.

    Has anyone been successful
in getting Logos 4 to work with the popular bible reading plan at
oneyearbibleonline or oneyearbibleblog or other bible church bible reading
plans using this same plan? Below is the example of the reading plan. Jim and I
were both unsuccessful when we tried to accomplish this using the “manually
customized reading plans”. Also the (OT-NT-Psalms-Proverbs) reading plan offered
in Logos is kind of similar but it is a different reading plan.

     For example, here
is what I would like the first five days to look like:

    Jan 1: Gen 1:1-2:25 | Mt 1:1-2:12 | Ps 1:1-6 | Pr 1:1-6

    Jan 2: Gen 3:1-4:26 | Mt 2:13-3:6 | Ps 2:1-12 | Pr 1:7-9

    Jan 3: Gen 5:1-7:24 | Mt 3:7-4:11 | Ps 3:1-8 | Pr 1:10-19

    Jan 4: Gen 8:1-10:32 | Mt 4:12-25 | Ps 4:1-8 | Pr 1:20-23

    Jan 5: Gen 11:1-13:4 | Mt 5:1-26 | Ps 5:1-12 | Pr 1:24-28

Has anyone been successful setting up this reading plan using
    Logos 4?

If this is  not an option that can be accomplished going
through the Logos 4 software I would appreciate knowing that.

    Thanks

    Hi,

The string is below, but I have also attached the .docx file so that you can create a personal book that lists the passages, which then are clickable [kind of handy].  8524.0714.OneYearBibleReadingPlan_forLogosPersonalBooks_sent_v2.docx

Here is the string that needs to be added in: File | Reading Plan | All Passages | New Reference Range box:

I tried posting the above as suggested and I seem to be off just by a few days. For example, today's reading (Nov 14th) should be:

    Ezekiel 29:1-30:26
    Hebrews 11:32-12:13
    Psalm 112:1-10
    Proverbs 27:17

    Per this link:

    http://www.oneyearbibleonline.com/november.asp?version=51&startmmdd=0101

And this is what I seem to be getting (Heb 6:13-7:10):

    Any thought?

    Thanks,

I note Nov 25 in your screenshot has Eze 29-30, but Heb, Ps, and Pr are a couple chapters off. Also, it is splitting your Heb over two days, Nov 20 & 21.

This could be related to a bug I posted about last week where the first day of a reading plan gets too little and the last day gets too much. How does Jan 1 compare to what is on the website? Dec 31?

    Thanks Joshua,

    Here is what I found:

    Jan 1 Logos:  Matt 1:1-17  Web-site:    Matt 1:1 - 2:12

    Dec 31st Logos: Revelation 22      Web-site:  Revelation 22: 1-21

That doesnt seem to be exhibiting the same problems I reported. Probably what is going on is Logos is trying to evenly distribute the number of verses per day whereas the source reading plan is a little more uneven.

Unless this is a new bug, best option might be to vote and comment here: http://logos.uservoice.com/forums/42823-logos-bible-software-5/suggestions/617849-more-control-over-reading-plans

    Thanks Joshua.

To be honest I have been surprised by two things in my pursuit of this plan. The first is that as popular as both Logos and the One Year Bible format are, I am surprised this is not a solved issue. Secondly, I was surprised that it is difficult to export the reading plan in a more universal format from the One Year Bible site to be consumed by any number of programs.

I likely does not matter that much to me as my group only meets once a week and while there might not be exact overlap, I hope at least there is some overlap to facilitate discussion.

    Thanks for  your help.

    Best,

    Tom

On further review, ignore the part of my last post about having some overlap, it appears that there is a significant difference:

    July 24 On-line:

    2 Chronicles 11:1-13:22
    Romans 8:26-39
    Psalm 18:37-50
    Proverbs 19:27-29

    Logos:

    1 Chronicles 25-26

    Acts 19:11-41

    Psalm 23:1-6 and 24:1-10

    Proverbs 18:12-13

After a lot of review, I think Kat has had the best idea I have seen across many forums --8625.One Year Bible reading plan.docx> a personal book that links LOGOS to the selected readings.  I took her file and modified it slightly and it works great!!

The downside is that LOGOS does not sync personal books with mobile devices, and looks like it will be a long time before that happens.

In L6 it can be made into a custom reading plan. The limitations of 2012 are gone.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I found out how to create a Custom Daily Reading Plan

I needed to create a LOGOS version of a well-known daily reading plan, matching each day’s reading assignment (ie NOT calculated by LOGOS).  Below I demonstrate how to create four passage lists: for 1) OT, 2)NT, 3)Psalms and 4) Proverbs.  Then I combine all lists in a single daily reading plan. Note:  This WILL load onto your iOS device!!

It is unfortunate we are now well into Logos 6 and this isn't updated.  I am going to read the Bible in a year, but the most common is the One Year Bible.  My daughter is reading a hard version and I would like to be able to follow along with her.  My preference would be to use Logos with the app, but apparently they aren't going to make this possible so I've moved to the You Version app to do this.  It really is great...wish Logos would provide this same service that a free app will do.

What precisely are you unable to do? I find the Logos method clunky but it is generally possible to get what you want.

I want a plan that will sync exactly with the One Year Bible reading plan.  This it will not do.  This is not the same thing as reading through the Bible in a year in four parts daily...

I created a personal book using the document that was posted earlier in this thread. The document was pretty good, but wasn't exactly what I wanted, because you couldn't create a reading plan from it (April 29 was missing as well.) However, by doing some editing and adding a Table of Contents, I created a word document that when set up as a personal book, can be used to create a reading plan that is exactly the same as the One Year Bible. I created the plan to start on January 1st, and be read everyday. It matched the days in the personal book to the actual days of the year (except for an issue with leap year!!!! So I moved the start to Jan 2, since I'm starting mid-year 2016.) I told it to catch me up, and now it lists the readings for today with links. I think this might be the best possible solution to this. (I tried importing the readings from the One Year Bible website into a reading list last year and then creating a reading plan. It was a long and labor intensive process, and quite honestly I can't remember how I did it. This was much easier, especially now that the book is done.)

I told it to catch me up, and now it lists the readings for today with links. When I click on the link, the readings show up in my preferred Bible just like they would if I had created a reading plan with the Bible as the book.

I'm going to attach the word document, so that other people can try to create a personal book this way, too. The key is the table of contents. I also had an issue at first, because I'd separated the table of contents and the text with a page break, which messed up the way that Logos read the file, leading to day 1 being a reading of the entire document, and then day 2 starting with January 1. The format I'm posting is the one that worked for me.

It's been so long. How do I input your docx file into a reading plan again?
