Under Layouts, then "Save as named layout" the arrow in the circled should add the newly named layout to the saved layout column to the left (as it does in Windows). It does not do this on my Mac using SR-3 6.4.0.0065.
Confirmed that this bug still exists in 6.5 Beta 1.
