Hi Tess,
click on Tools and there you will see highlighting. listed. Just click on this and the highlighting window will open. Once you open it, you can even "drag" the top part of the window that say Highlighting" to the "shortcut" area besides the Command box. Then whenever you want to highlight a word, you can just click on your icon for highlighting and it will open the highlighting palette for you.
When you want to highlight a word with a color or symbol, first highlight the word in your Bible text by dragging your mouse across the word. then click on the color or symbol in your highlighting window and voila, your word is now color coded the way you want!

I prefer inductive study myself. Once you identify the repeated words - (e.g. immediately in Mark), you can use visual filters to mark them.

Tes, there are basically two ways (or more) to make a visual filter:
1. Go to File: and choose visual filter, then if you know which words you want, you set your range, enter the words, then choose the formatting for each word.
The second way is to do your search first, which will give you a good idea of how many hits you are going to get, then if it is satisfactory, choose "Make filter" on the top of the search. This will take you to a visual filter form where you enter your formatting.
