Is this a bug?

So imagine that my preferred Bible is ESV. But today for some reason I am reading thru the RSV version. I reach a footnote, and it is a Bible reference. When I hover over the BIble reference itself, the text is not RSV but it is ESV. OK I think, its default behavior must be that it respects my preferred Bible selection no matter what, even though I am in a Bible. So I try this - I turn on "Send hyperlinks here" in the RSV, but when I hover over a BIble reference, it still shows me ESV, even though if I click on it I in fact stay within the same Bible - so behavior is different on hover and on a click.

I know I can change this by using advanced prioritization, but it seems silly to have to go through for every Bile and set up a "from this resource" to itself entry for every Bible I use regularly.

If a click will go to another Bible (in this case the one I set up as a "send hyperlinks here), shouldn't a hover reflect that in the text it presents?

I don't think it is a bug - it probably works 'as designed'.

I am with you in that Logos should auto-advance-prioritize bibles for themselves, but at least you can do it manually as a workaround

If I were to design this, I'd want to show the footnotes /xrefs in a bible that same bible on hover - however, if I specifically dedicated a tab with a certain bible in it (regardless of translation) as "send hyperlinks here" then this should work and move to the right reference place and show it, it shouldn't open another bible (the one I'm coming from) and it shouldn't move the text of the bible I'm coming from: that's the idea of the "send hyperlinks here".

If no "send hyperlinks here" tab was specified, then one might argue along with you - I'm holding against it that prioritizing a preferred bible has a purpose, and maybe people reading up in a certain bible actually might wish references they click on to open in their preferred bible - e.g. a more familiar translation or another language.

I agree with everything you say, or at least understand it's reasonable except one thing - I think you misunderstood one point - I DID have "send hyperlinks here" set. If I click it will go to it. But what it displays on hover is NOT the BIble it will go to when I click - it is yet another Bible (my preferred one). This is not consistent.

I concur with your point there, that's why I wrote Logos should automatically work as if bibles were advanced-prioritized to link to themselves.

I have argued for this for years getting little support. I'm delighted you also think it should be changed. See today's tip of the day ....
