BUG (?): Smart Text Selection Messes With Context Menu Options

This might have already been reported, but I couldn't find it in a Google search.

With Text Selection set to Smart, I right click on "Nicodemus" in John 3:4 (ESV), both "God" and "Nicodemus" are selected and the context menu is for "God":

If I right-click on either "born" or "again" in John 3:3, none of the Greek elements display in the context menu:

All of this gets fixed if I change Text Selection to "Word".

Similar (but not exact) behavior is also noted in YNIV* and in AV 1873.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Even with the Note indicator before Nicodemus, I cannot reproduce what you illustrate. But it might be because Nicodemus is on the next line. Does it happen if you remove the Note?

Yes; after removing that series of notes or all notes. I also just tried turning off (in separate tests) sympathetic highlights, speaker labels, addressee labels, and even tried bible text only.

I can reproduce everything Robert is describing in the ESV.

One interesting thing I noted is that when Smart Selection is set to Word there is still an indication that "God Nicodemus" is a valid selection (second option in the menu)

BTW, before I posted the bug report, and when I thought the only issue was the lack of context entries for "born" and "again", I did a Rebuild Indexes, thinking the RI info missing could be an index problem. (I have a fairly small library, so the indexing was not an ELE.) That had no effect, so I renamed the ESV RI files and forced a resource download and let it do the usual post-download index. Then I discovered the God-Nicodemus selection issue.

I thought the same thing. But maybe Steve is referring to some incorrect layer or tagging that smart text selection depends upon as typos. If so, there's going to be a boatload, because while I didn't catalog them, I found similar issues in NIV84 and AV 1873 (and who knows what else). Also, since the smart selection enabled resources have been around about 10 months, I'm a little surprised that I, or anyone else, just now stumbled upon the typos.

I do hope he noticed that changing Text Selection to "Word" cures it.

Not wanting to nag or anything, but if Smart Text Selection is important to someone, this is a huge problem. I don't place such a high priority on Smart select, but I'm sure some do, since Logos made quite a fuss last fall about updating the resources for it.

As I noted in the OP, this is not just in John 3 and it's not just in the ESV. And while I know little of the language for publishing and markup, I don't think this is a typo.
