Unistalling the Beta

What is the best way to unistall the beta? I am using Logos4 under two user names on the same machine, and wish to have the stable version under one of them. Both are betas. Thought I had the problem liked, but it licked me.

Have a demo to show on Logos 4 soon. Need to start practicing with the official release candidate.

Just a note on the terminology, there is no official "release candidate" currently. A RC is when they are about to ship a new version, and they think this one might be ready to go "golden" but are not sure yet. Once it passes a threshold of a certain amount of time with no serious bugs being found, they will pronounce it "golden" and ship it. Then it is no longer a "release candidate."

There is no way to go backwards from a beta to the previous stable release. You would have to entirely uninstall it and reinstall 4.0a SR-3 from scratch. I've never tried this myself, but you should be able to do it using the normal Uninstall process for software (via the Control Panel: in Vista it's under "Programs & Features"; in XP it's "Add or Remove Programs").

Me neither, I think you should double check for the AppData/Logos4 folder and delete it if the uninstall didn't do that.

Dave, didn't Bradley warn us not to do this? I remember something about not sharing Beta files with the Stable release because the Beta sometimes changes the formats of things and that might cause a crash? With that said I'd probably attempt Method 3 on the off chance it could save me all that downloading.

It would apply to sharing the \Documents folder or \Data folder as per Method 1 & Method 2.

Metthod 3 only shares resources and I use it all the time for my Beta installation (where the resources come from my Master, non-beta, installation).

As far as I know scan works quite sophisticated way. It takes only books that are compatible and leaves to download those that would not be. It is the same with scanning the Logos3 resources.

I haven't tried scan with resources built for a Beta, such as we have now, when used in the stable release ie. it is safe to scan resources from stable to Beta, but I can't be certain about scanning beta-built resources to a stable release.
