Could somebody suggest a good way to find the providence of Bible books in Logos 6? Looking for information regarding dates written and by who, etc...
Welcome to the forums Timothy. I've read and re-read your question a number of times and I must confess that I don't know what you mean by "providence of Bible books". Could you please explain yourself more?
All resources have an Information icon - the circled i at the end of its toolbar. Click that to get a bibliography, citation etc.
I am confused as well. I think Dave may have answered your question, but if not, please clarify. If you are looking for "who wrote Hebrews," then you are asking for a resource recommendation. If you are looking to find "who wrote "the Purpose Driven Life," you look where Dave suggested.
If you mean the provenance of the books of the Bible, there are many resources that provide this information. Bible Handbooks will provide that information for each book. Study Bibles will often give it, too.
If you want the whole thing in one chart, there's one in the Macarthur Study Bible, Wilmington's Bible Lists, Got Questions? and The Bible Reader's Companion.
Wow Mark. I clicked on the links to see if I owned those books, thinking they would take me to the Logos site. I was amazed when they opened to pages in those resources right in my Logos Software! How do you set up that kind of link?
How do you set up that kind of link?
Navigate to the location in the resource in Logos and use the panel menu to Copy Location As URL. Then paste it in the forum post.
To paste it as a title, type your title like this (example, using a book by J Grudem): Grudem's Book.
Then highlight the title and click the chain link to insert your URL you just copied. Right-click in the Link URL box to paste it.
Another way to get introductory material on a Bible book is to run a Factbook report on the Bible book. For example, enter in the Factbook search bar Gospel of Matthew, or Epistle to the Romans, or Book of Isaiah, etc. It will then give you links to many of the resources of your library, categorized by Content (Overview, Outline,...), Origin (includes Authorship, Date, Purpose,...), Background and other topics.
Faithlife also provides Reading Lists for each book.

Thank you Mark and Cynthia for your posts.
But Mark, is this a new feature in Windows 10 with L6?
On a few times now when I click on certain links on the forums I get a pop-up window saying:
[Did you mean to switch application?
“Microsoft Edge” is trying to open “Logos Bible Software”.]
I would usually click No and remain on the forum because I was not sure how safe clicking Yes would be.
But now I decided to follow through after reading Cynthia's post and wow, it opens the resource from my library!

Thanks Doc B for showing how such a link is done.
