Really NOT what I was hoping to see. Can I upgrade without a re-install?

The installer says "up to date."  I guess that means I have to uninstall and reinstall?

When did you see this? Were you trying to upgrade to beta 3?

I just tried to start Logos, just now...10 min ago.  Not while trying to manually upgrade.  I am on Beta channel.

Do a repair from Control Panel / Programs / Programs and Features.

This is my personal Faithlife account. On 1 March 2022, I started working for Faithlife, and have a new 'official' user account. Posts on this account shouldn't be taken as official Faithlife views!

Thanks.  What did work so far, is to copy the contents of the 6.6.0.0032 folder from a second computer into the old Beta folder on the first computer.  Started right up.  Apparently Logos lost track of the correct folder.

Perhaps Logos crashed during upgrade to the new beta and I didn't notice, and the new folder directory wasn't updated--wherever that takes place?? The registry is actually pointing to the  6.6.0.0032 folder, so the update must have occurred, but something didn't point to the right folder?

Beats me, but it works now.

Trying a program repair is a great idea.  Next time--which I hope there will not be.

I bet it's a lot simpler than that.

I don't know what I am talking about, but think it may be that I used an shortcut leading to the old beta to try to start Logos and not the new shortcut.

    My dumb.

Nope probably wasn't that.   I better stop posting before I do something dumber.

After the most recent update 6.6.0.0041, the same thing happens mentioned above.

Digging, I seem to have 3 versions of Logos--Windows Programs shows Logos installed twice.  I don't want to uninstall one of them for concern of losing everything and having to start over.

    I seem to have:

    6.6.0.0006

    6.6.0.0032

    6.6.0.0041

The most recently installed desktop icon does point to the right version and does start correctly.  But the taskbar icon is wrong with each update--kinda like the issue we had with desktop icons a year or so ago.

Am I headed for trouble?  Ignore it?  Bite the bullet and do a complete reinstall?  Suggestions?

So this 6.6 release has almost nothing for non-Now users?

I don't like this trend of development resource distribution between Now and non-Now customers...

    Please post a screenshot.

Do you have more than one Logos folder e.g. \Logos and \Logos5, both with \Data and \Documents sub-folders?

You should have the two most recent versions in your Logos folder, but I have also seen three version folders. As the desktop icon is pointing to 6.6.0.0041 you can safely delete 6.6.0.0006 and see if two are maintained after the next update.

Not sure what you mean by "wrong" but I have had a "blank" taskbar icon the last couple of releases - just unpin and re-pin to correct. No need to do anything drastic!

It might help to upload your DigitalLibraryInstall.log (compressed)

Thanks Dave.  I will try that.  By "wrong" I mean that the task bar icon from a previous version (which I place there) apparently does not target the updated Logos.exe which may be producing the error message??  Likely the same or similar reason you have a "blank" taskbar icon.

Anyway, it doesn't seem to be a big problem, so I am putting panic on pause.

I haven't known a blank icon to point to the wrong version. But please re-read my previous post as I edited it to get more information from you

Here is what I have learned so far:

    1. I included screenshots below, but I believe I have only  the \Logos5 folder and one set of  sub-folders  \Data and \Documents

2.After some searching, I am not finding "DigitalLibraryInstall.log."  I will include other logs and screenshot of the relevant log files I do have.

    3. For what it's worth, I have a seperate computer updated to 6.0.0044, while the computer we are discussing is not updating beyond 6.0.0041--yet.

    4. Time stamps may seem futuristic--I am in Asia.

Don't forget though that a good portion - maybe nearly all - of this development will come our way eventually in Logos 7

You get what you pay for - and all that.

The Beta 4 release has more items listed that affect all customers than only affect Now customers: https://wiki.logos.com/Logos_6.6_Beta_4

Also true (by a very large margin) for Beta 1: https://wiki.logos.com/Logos_6.6_Beta_1

I believe you are confusing 6.5.0.0044 with 6.6.0.0041 i.e. version 6.5 SR-1 (current stable) vs version 6.6 Beta 4 (latest beta).

The "ghost" version of Logos Bible Software is unusual as is the lack of a DigitalLibraryInstall.log. It would be worthwhile to pursue this with Tech Support as they can logon to your computer to investigate (I'm loathe to start a session on Registry debugging as it is quite involved). Refer them to this thread.

My aching brain.  You are right.

Good news.  After the last update 6.6.0.0055, everything works fine.  That which is old is done away and that which is new is come and so much better.  Only the 6.6.0.0041 Folder remains Left Behind, which is just fine.

    Sincerely,

    Happy Camper
