Reading Plans by chapters... automatically

Once again I'm wrestling with reading plans.
I know that I can create custom reading plans. I do it when I need to. But one very needful feature is still missing: the ability to generate a reading plan automatically that honors chapter divisions.
I wanted to set up a reading plan for Unseen Realm, it's only 42 chapters - but it is still a pain to build it one by one.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Agreed - it would be very useful if that were made much easier

While I agree that would be a useful feature, why do you need a reading plan for it? Just read the resource chapter by chapter until done.

I use Reasing Plans to help "manage" reading through a number of books, reminding me what portions of which books are "due " each day.
Being able to partition them by chapters would make divisions more useful.

I agree Graham and use reading plans for the same reason but again we can read resources without a plan and in the case of chapters it is easy to read a chapter at each session. Not all our resources need a plan. I use reading plans in the morning and I read through other resources in the evening without a plan. To each his own I guess.

I'll agree with Graham on this one. I'm never reading fewer than a dozen books, and sometimes most of the time many more over that. The reading plans act like bookmarks for me.
I can then use a book I'm reading as part of my research, flip back and forth, and never loose my place when it's time to read.
For me to keep up on my reading: plans are essential.

I agree TCBlack. I would find this useful.

They've been talking about how this should work already for some time but every time I try it alas it still does not work. I hope they can figure it out soon as it would be a very well-used feature I believe!

I worked around with this trying to make it do what you wanted but in the end I ended up using the custom reading plan, highlighting the chapter and adding it to the plan. Had to do this 42 times to get the entire book in. Automatically would be better.

This has been requested numerous times, and there are multiple UserVoice suggestions for it (unless they've been consolidated). I know because I posted one of them a couple years back.
Methinks it simply isn't a priority for FL.

There were some unanticipated issues when they tried to implement something like this before so I think there are some challenges in doing it.

I gave up on the reading plan function- have for a while now incorporated reading books using "layout" function- then placing a icon on toolbar till completed. The upside is I have been able to keep notes and references within the layout- as I'm doing with the "Unseen Realm", this allows a pro/con approach to the topic or topics address, and builds a good background for discussions or lessons.
The downside is it does not generate a reminder on the "home page" for you- unless I have missed something.

One way to "trick" the system is the pretend it is a prayer list. Then you can get home screen reminders and check-boxes
* It shows that my "prayers" are complete today because I checked off the reading for today already. Also in the notes section of the prayer list I pasted the location URL for each chapter, and then when I open the prayer list tool by clicking the main title:"The Cross of Christ, John Stott: part 2 & 3" the prayer list opens up and then I see the URL in the notes section for that day, and I can copy and paste it to the command box, hit enter, and the resources opens to the proper place :-)
I know its not ideal, but it is a work around
