Unable to access L4 library using other user profiles

This is a follow up to a problem I have been experiencing since I purchased the L4 library and dowloaded online. Unlike the Libronix software, which allows me to go into system preferences and allow the software to be used on other user profiles, the L4 library does is not available when I log on to my other user profiles.

Since this happened I tried to download the L4 library from the non-admin user profiles. It started to download the library but only downloaded about half of the resources that it was supposed to. Since then, when I use this non-admin profile, there is no longer any downloading activity (there is no Logos icon in my menu bar).

Is there anyway I can start over again and just use the DVD to install?

Are you completely logging out or are you using Fast User Switching? Your indexer is crashing which is preventing downloading. It might help to completely log out.

Hi Tom,

Please forgive me for my computer illiteracy but I'm not sure what you mean by "Fast User Switching." To go from the admin profile to the other profile I always log out by clicking on to the apple in my menu bar and clicking the "log out" tab. What else could be the reason my indexer is crashing?

Fast User Switching is an option whereby you can quickly log out and log into another user account. Doing the normal Log Out... from the Apple menu was what I thought might clear up the issue if you were using Fast User Switching. Since you're not, we'll have to track this down another way.

Do you have any Logos4Indexer processes running on your system in Activity Monitor if you select "All Processes"?

It's easier to keep this all in one place. Also, I'd like to see if we can get L4 running on your primary account, rather than treating the symptoms by fixing L4 on other user accounts, which is an unsupported way of running the app

Not following my own suggestion above, but I was able to reproduce this bug by doing the following:

1) Logging out of my current user while the indexer was running. (Having the indexer running may or may not be relevant).

2) Logged in as a new user and started Logos 4.

3) Logged in with my Logos4 user name and password, then canceled indexing and logged out.

4) Logged back in as the original user and restarted and now I'm seeing the same problem as you were.

As a workaround, can you reboot and see if that fixes the issue on the secondary accounts?

I too have been out of the forums for a few days. Actually trying to spend more time writing code and fixing bugs for the next alpha. We'll have to pick this up on Monday as I have to teach at church this weekend and spend a little time with the family. I'm definitely interested in getting this figured out.

As far as "tweaking" the system preferences goes, all I did was go onto the Admin user account, accessed system preferences, and went into "parental controls." From here there are four different options available that allow the person with admin privileges to either allow or prevent other user accounts to access certain websites or even certain programs.

What I did was make sure I allowed the other user accounts access to all Logos or Libronix application. This "tweaking" allows the other user profiles access to the L4 program, while blocking other things (such as innapropriate websites and the like).

Also, a new bit of information that might be helpful in trying to figure this problem out is that this problem of my indexer crashing began just after I logged into my Seminary's wireless server. It was after that when I began to notice this problem. Now, not only can I not get the rest of my library for the user profile I want to use, but I also am unable to log on to the Seminary's wireless when I'm at school. When I try, I get a "connection timeout" message every time I try log on. Pretty wierd
