I know that everyone has been griping about the "hard to see" elements in the interface and while I agree...this might help; I know it did on my laptop.

On my graphics adjustments it has a "gamma" control" which as far as I can tell is the "washout" adjustment :)

I turned it all of the way down and it really helped the visibility and reduced the washout factor greatly.

Where did you find those controls Bob.  I remember seeing them once but can't seem to find them at the moment.   I coudn't see the difference from your screen dumps but I am willing  to give it a try if I can find the controls.

If you have gamma controls they will either be:

    • on your monitor itself
    • embedded in the configuration utility for your video card.

Hmm Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

    Andrew,

You are right...the screen shots didn't really show the difference.

As to where to find the control; thomas is correct; software or hardware. I'm running a Dell inspiron with a ATI Raedon card to it's the "Catalyst Control center" app that I make changes through.

Thanks Thomas and Bob.  I don't have catalyst installed. Left it out when I had to do a rebuild on this machine at the start of the year.. never used it so just thuoght I'd stick with the bare bones driver...but willing to intall now I have a potential use.

Just had my first WOW moment since using 4.0.  WOW that really does make a difference Robert,  I'm just tinkering with brightness and contrast to get  and even better but adjusting the gamma down really does have an effect....I don't say it much, so in case you missed it first time...WOW.... that one goes straight to the top for tip of the year.

    Thanks.
