Personal Book Builder - Building German Bible causes Warnings

Good morning,

actually I tried to build a german bible and kind of succeeded. The book was created and opened in Logos but with some restrictions. In some german bibles there is a slightly different verse numbering than in english bibles. As a result the affected verses like Gen 32:33 are not recognized as verses in Logos.

Is there any solution to enable Logos for recognizing those verses in personal books as well? (At least in "built-in" german bibles like Menge the verses are recognized correctly.)

Good morning Frank,

a lot of the Bibles use a different versemap. They don't all line up. And that's what you are experiencing.

you can do two things: 1. go to https://wiki.logos.com/Bible_Verse_Maps and see whether you find a versemap that fits your Bible. In the DOCX you then need to change the tagging from [[@Bible:Ge 1:1]]1 {{field-on:bible}} to [[@BibleLEB:Ge 1:1]]1 {{field-on:bible}} (for example to use the LEB versemap). This can be done by find @Bible and replace with @BibleLEB.

2. if your source Bible is in the right format you could use the MultiBibleConverter here https://github.com/schierlm/BibleMultiConverter. This one has the option to select the right versemap for you and tells you which verses are not included. Look at the website and see whether this could work. Then let me know and I can help you how to work with this tool.

If you end up with having to use a versemap that doesn't cover every verse in your Bible, you can still tag it. It will display the verse number but be recognized as belonging to the previous verse. If that happens to a couple, three verse your Bible would still be usable even though not perfect.

If you look at this wiki for bible verse maps you will see which bible datatypes recognise Gen 32.33 e.g Menge. But also ensure other verses in your bible are consistent with Menge.

Then look at https://wiki.logos.com/Bible_Datatypes to get the datatype name e.g. BibleMENGE and encode your bible milestones as follows [[@BibleMENGE:Gen 32:33]]

thank you very much for the help and usefull hints. Actually I followed your advice and changed the bible to Menge. So I got a couple of verses that do not match perfectly but it is much better than before.

Guessing a little from your log entry, you may try the - so far undocumented - versemap / bible type bibleschlacter2000 (mark the spelling!) for even better results.
