Is Replace with Passage Supposed to Work on 6.5 SR-1?

Hello,

Forgive me if this message was already answered somewhere, but I searched the forums and found only information regarding 6.5 beta 3.

On my Mac, the "Replace with Passage" feature does not work in any app. When I highlight a verse and select it from the services menu, it will switch window focus to Logos, but nothing will happen after that.

Is it supposed to be working or are we waiting for a later version to fix this?

You're right. It's broken yet again. It seems each time we receive a service release it's a gamble whether the "Replace with Passage" or "Copy Bible Verses" will continue to work with Mac OS X. This time the "Replace with Passage" is broken but the "Copy Bible Verses" works as before. I'm currently running Yosemite 10.10.5 and Mac Office 2011 Word. I haven't done any testing with Pages. Let's hope someone from FaithLife is aware of this.

I don't have Word, so I can't test that, but it is working fine for me in Pages, Textedit, Notes, and Mail.

I wonder if it is related to a specific version of Word. What version do you have FrMoses?

Thank you for your responses. On the Logos side, I am using Logos Bible Software 6.5 SR-1 (6.5.0.0044), and on the Mac side, I am using OS X 10.11 "El Capitan" GM Release (essentially the same as the final release on September 30).

As for the version of Microsoft Word, it is Word 2016 15.13.1 (latest version, I believe.) It's not just Word, it's also Pages, TextEdit, Safari, etc. Logos' "Replace with Passage" doesn't work at all, even though it worked quite well before.

With this setup, I find that Copy Bible Verse sometimes works with either Cmd-Shift-J of when the command is selected from the Services Menu.

Replace With Passage never works from the keyboard shortcut (Cmd-Shift-E). It works almost 100% of the time when selected from the Services menu. (I believe Word has Cmd-Shift-E assigned to a different operation.) Not sure about 6.5, but 6.6 will be out shortly.

Thank you, Jack. Yes, I've been working with the command directly from the Services menu, but the result is the same: the window focus moves to Logos (which is already open) and both Logos and whatever app I'm trying to paste into freeze for a couple of seconds. When that is over, the passage reference remains the same in the app and Logos remains open.

In a quest to find answers, I opened up Console, cleared it out, and tried to see what happened when I went through this process. I get hundreds of these messages:

Seems to me that this is the culprit, but I don't know enough about it.

When did it stop working? After you installed El Capitan GM?

Did you try restarting?

You could try deselecting "Replace with Passage" in Mac's System Preferences | Keyboard | Shortcuts | Services, then restarting and reselecting it. Maybe it just needs a refresh.

I should also mention that the same behavior/error applies when using "Copy Bible Verses" using the keyboard shortcut or the Services menu.

Thanks for the tip. I went into System Preferences, unselected those two services, restarted, and then enabled them once again, but unfortunately, the behavior remains the same. Maybe I need to reinstall Logos or sign up for the beta.

As an experiment, I set my update channel to beta and downloaded the latest Logos 6.6 Beta for Mac, but sadly, that did not fix the issue.

I'm a bit worried there is a deeper issue here.
