Camp Logos NC

First day of Camp Logos in Henderson NC is finished. I was amazed at how much i did already know about the program from working with it for about 6 months now. But I was also amazed at how much I learned. I expected to learn a lot on day two, but I learned a lot today. Some may have been things I learned but forgot, but I know some of it was new.
Morris Proctor is a great presenter. He is personable, interesting, and knowledgable. The MPSeminars Team is very good and Central Baptist Church did a great job hosting.
I recommend it even to people who are long time users. Also got to hang out with Jack C. and saw a few other familiar names on name tags.

I hope there is another one near central NC soon! I found out about this one too late to go (last week)... hope to get in another soon.

Moe did say in the session that they would be back through for a Camp II. Might be useful to you. If I get a chance to talk to him today I will ask.

I'm responding after the 2nd full day. Simply terrific. Just when one might think that the basics are under control, along comes this seminar to give "cool stuff" a new definition! Considering the huge turnout, one hopes that Morris Proctor can schedule a Camp II relatively soon. I'm in complete agreement with Kevin on the MPSeminars Team and also my kudos to the Central Baptist Church in Henderson, NC. They made the whole experience a very good one indeed. It was great to meet folks who are familiar on these forums. Such fun!!

It would be bun to have a follow up meetup for any NC Camp Logos attendees in a central location like Greensboro or something.
I too look forward to a Camp II.

Kevin, I think I sat just in front of you at the Camp! I, too, learned a great deal and refreshed a lot. I spoke to Moe about coming to Greensboro for Camp 2. I pastor a small church on the east side. We talked about possibilities of using the Holiday Inn Conference Center on I-40. Would be interested in others' thoughts on a follow-up and/or Camp 2 in Greensboro.

HI, Joe here....almost recovered from hosting the Camp at Central Baptist, Henderson. It was so great to have you all here...it was a great experience although quite hectic from a host perspective. Everyone's positive feedback is appreciated by the many folks at my Church who worked so hard supporting us...it's impossible to thank them all. I'm up for a Logos II closeby so count me in.

I liked Henderson, Joe! All I had to do was make 2 slight turns here, drive straight down I-85, then make 2 slight turns at that end. I haven't a clue as to where Greensboro is with respect to my house (although I can easily find out) but it sounds more complicated to get there. Not that we want you to grow old before your time, Joe, but you and the troops did such a yeoman job, so we recommend you do it again. [<:o)] I saw Morris' schedule for the rest of the year. It doesn't look like he will ever see his own house in this decade! heheh....

Does that mean that you have eaten all the left-over donuts? [:D] The Seminar was even better than I expected, and Central Baptist completed their hosting duties in an exemplary manner. [Y] (We still need a hand-clapping smiley).

Just a chance to get together and fellowship and also discuss using Logos and Bible study.

You posted this while I was editing mine to include the quote from Fred. I would like to get together. Perhaps we could even form a Logos Users Group.

Sounds good to me. Bring our computers and share our favorite tips and tools. Bounce bible study or preaching ideas off one another, etc.

It will be rather difficult to put my tower and dual monitors under my arm. Of course, you could buy me a 17" MacBook Pro for my birthday. [:D]
Seriously, my email is jackcaviness at mac dot com. Since I am closer to Greensboro than you are, I'll see if I can do something.

I could participate at Greensboro or I can make some space-a in Henderson.
I'm all up'sy over Logos4 but I need some company or advice about the trouble I'm having with it....mostly speed related.
Main thing for me is to ensure the meet is somewhere near a coffee-pot.

Greensboro is much closer for me, as I live in Asheboro. Kevin is a long way from Henderson. I'll see what I can do next week.

Greensboro is a little more central to all in the state. I am 2 hours from Greensboro as it is. But I can make a 2 hour one way trip in a day. Now willing to do 3.5 hours.

HI, I read that you all had a good time and learned very much. But I was just wondering if any had bought the two manuals that Morris Proctor had offered?? Because for me time and money are a little tight right now.

If a group of Logos users would like to meet in Greensboro, I can provide a meeting room (with wireless internet access) at Starmount Forest Country Club on Saturday, March 13th, say from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.... We could have lunch at the club, and spend the afternoon talking about Logos. If there is enough interest for this to happen, I would need a headcount by March 6th... Anybody game?Jack Caviness said:Joe Hicks said:I could participate at Greensboro or I can make some space-a in Henderson.

That sounds great, but I can't do March 13. I'll have to catch the second meeting. Greensboro is fine to me, its around 2hours.

Hey, Joe
I just mentioned the 13th because it was the first available Saturday at the club. I'll be happy to check availability whenever is best for the group. I just wanted to be helpful... My wife manages the club, so as long as there is free space, I can provide a meeting place in a pleasant atmosphere.

Guys,
I have a small church 1 mile off the I-40 / I-85 split in east Gressnboro. We have a meeting room for about 50 with tables, sufficient electrical, refreshments, etc. Would be glad to host you for any Saturday in March. Can arrange a lunch if I have number in advance.

Any Sat in March except the 13th is good for me...but if the 13th works for everyone, I'll catch you on the 2nd meeting.

How would 20th for lunch sound. We could all just bring in something or as Fred suggested he might be able to get something catered and we could each chip in.
Would we want to do a program or just make it informal?

I would be interested in coming to such a group -- although I happen to be on call the 1st and 3rd weekend of every month. Greensboro is about an hour away for me.

OK, in order to stop dancing around, I make a motion we let Michael set us up for March 20 at the Country Club: if that date does not work for the Country Club, we can go to plan B at my church same day. Both are in Greensboro.

OK, I will check on availability today, and let everyone know. How shall we "advertise" this new users' group? Do you think that Morris would provide e-mail addresses of users that have attended his seminars in NC? Shall we announce it on the Logos Facebook page? Twitter? (If so, someone else will have to step in, as I don't know how to tweat, twitter or otherwise make bird calls...) Let me know your thoughts...

That might be more accurate than we would care to admit! [:$]
But I think that you guys misunderstood my question... I meant to ask how we should let people know that we are having this meeting/forming an users' group. If the purpose is to network, do we want to keep the meeting to a particular size, such as 25 or 50? The club will be available on the 20th, and we can invite as many as we like (assuming it is less than 200). So, do you want to keep it to the 5 or 6 that have been reading this forum, or invite more users that may be in the area? And if so, how do we get the word out?
I'm really looking forward to this...

I agree with kevin on the more, the merrier. I can contact a few guys i know that are on Logos 4, but did not do Camp. I remember Morris saying they did NOT let out their email list, BUT I wonder if he would send out an email for the meeting?

I can send him an email with the request as soon are we settle on the details. So far I have Starmount Forest Country Club on Saturday, March 20th at Noon. What is the address? And what are the preferred times? Any other information?

Hi, Jack
We can have the club as early as 8 am, but need to leave by 5 pm so that they can set up for an evening event. We may want to give people some time in the morning to travel (and start at 9 am or 10 am), but I leave that to the group... If we start earlier, we could break for lunch instead of having lunch served, but again I leave that to the group. There are several fast food places not too far from the club. But too, I would think that we would want to meet long enough to make it worthwhile for the folks that have to travel a couple of hours to get here. Would it help if I were to get pricing for, say, a sandwich buffet at the club? Just let me know what I can do to help... But I will need to know about how many will be attending a week before we meet so that we can plan for set-up.
As far as set-up goes, I was thinking of loading a laptop with Logos 4 connected to a projector for anyone in the group to use to demonstrate whatever they may want. Let me know if you think that is a good idea... What else would be helpful? Of course, I will take care of name tags...
Should we move this to a new thread in the forum so that it is obvious to others from NC that this thread has become about a new NC users' group?

For me, 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. with a working lunch on site would be great for a first meeting. It would be long enough to make it worthwhile, and not too long for guys travelling. Since we really have no other costs, I think it would be neat to let the country club do up something nice for lunch for us, even if it costs more than going out - I would like to see the sandwich buffet cost vs. a meal cost.
Like the demo computer/projector idea.

i have a projector i can bring if nobody local has one.

I'm interested in this but have a previous commitment for the 20th. In fact, Saturdays are generally bad for me. As of course, are Wednesdays and Sundays. But I will keep my eyes on this thread to see what develops for the future.
