We have so many tools in logos, yet we are missing one of the most basic.
Some of us have had it in Logos for awhile. No longer available. It was published by E4. So maybe it is time for Logos to look into offering it.
I am missing out.. What was E4 ?
E4 was a 'free' Logos publisher (a seminary student and his wife, I believe) that produced mostly public domain stuff in Logos format for a few years. Free is a loose term since they usually offered one collection free and then others at low cost. My understanding is that their software was not well put together and may have created either a lot of support calls for Logos or just a bad reputation for buggy software. I do know that a few years back Logos pulled their right to make Logos products. They may still be around. They started publishing in another Bible software format after leaving Logos. You might find their old Logos stuff on that auction site occasionally.
Interesting piece of history, thanks
Here is a shot of what I have still on my Logos installation from E4:
The Weymouth NT is the other resource that isn't available from Logos that I value having.
I see E4s copyright was with permission of "The Online Bible", the original Tompson chain is out of copyright, the BB Kirkbride second editiion would be worth having..
ps.. I wish i could find my e4 cd's...
I would love to see the Thompson Chairn Reference in Logos. Rather than start another "war" I will refrain from mentioning the name of a competitor that already offers TCR.
I would love to see the Thompson Chairn Reference in Logos.
Me Too!!!! [Y]
I love my old leather-bound TCR NIV. I've had it over 20 years now and still use it occasionally. (You can't beat the smell and feel of the old leather, kept supple with my hand oils. (There are some things software can't do! [:)]) Still, I'd find TCR in Logos useful. You've got my vote!

Well you could get a leather keyboard or a leather-wrapped laptop.
Or both. [:D]
So I'm guesing from the chain I see that you cant do a Thompson like search in Logos. Major bummer as I just jumped to Logos 4 without asking that question first. is there any way to emulate it or come close?
What is a Thompson-like search? a list of cross references? A topical search?
You can get a list of cross references using the Passage guide, or using a book like the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge, which is indexed by passage.
Or to find more topically oriented stuff, you can do a passage search in a topical bible like New Naves Topical Bible or New Topical Textbook to find topical cross-reference lists. Those books are indexed by topic.
Thanks - I will try that - what i meant was a way to get all the passges in Scripture related to a particular topic in the same way that the Chain-Reference is built or similar. I got so dependent on my Thompsons Chain reference that I forgot about Naves topical.
Heres an example
Chain topic 3724, for example, concerns the general topic of unity:
This topic is divided into the major subtopics of "UNITY of Believers", "COOPERATION", and "STRIFE", each of which is divided into further topics. The general section contains 12 individual chains, some of considerable size. Many also incorporate references to chains treated elsewhere, such as the reference to Saints' Fellowship (chain 1325). The chain numbers feature prominently in the Thompson system, and the chain topics are listed in numerical order.

Or both.
Haha... That is truly disconcerting... Cow and keyboard? Those two words I never expected to see together...
There is a line...
I think our Japanese friends may have just crossed it... [:D]
Greetings Mark! I can see that you have the Chain Reference Bible in your Library. Could you please give me an explanation of how to include that in my library? I would be very grateful if you could give me some help on this issue. That would be great. Thank you.P.S. I am from Sweden. Sorry if my English isn't perfect.
Alexander, I am sorry but that resource is no longer available in Logos. It was offered years ago by a publisher who no longer produces or sells Logos resources. It is no longer for sale, so could not be added to anyone's Library at this point.
If someone had a copy from years ago and would sell it to you, Logos might be able to help make the transfer of ownership.
(By the way, your English is very good.)
Wonder about contacting Kirkbride Bible Company => http://www.kirkbride.com/contact.asp ?
Logos users could request Kirkbride to offer a Logos resource with over 8,000 chain topics. Likewise wonder if Logos could contact Kirkbride ?
Logos 5 has a Topic Guide that appears to be an awesome enhancement over Thompson Chains => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/15727/431738.aspx#431738 (found an online web site so compared Logos 5 with a couple chains: Abarim and Aaron)
Keep Smiling [:)]
