I Pod Touch
Hi I was just wondering if anyone has or could make a video of L4 on the Ipod Touch, or even someone actually using L4 on the Touch

Hi, I am thinking of buying the ipod touch, and would like to see how L4 works on it.

It's exactly the same as it is on the iPhone if you've seen the info here: http://www.logos.com/iphone. There's really nothing more to it -- beyond the fact that the iPhone has constant internet and the iPod Touch is limited to wifi hotspots and thus some features only work when connected to the internet.

Thanks for that Mike, yet it would be nice if I could see someone doing a bible study report in a video (if possible) just to see what it is like, anyway thanks.

I'd be happy to make a video of it but don't know how, short of actually taking a video of me using it, which I'm not up for right now. It's a pretty good app for being new and getting better all the time. It was the primary reason I bought an iPod touch; and I love it.
Note that the reports and searches don't work in offline mode. But reading does if you've told the app to download the book.
No notes, highlighting, or prayer lists yet which I'm really really hoping for soon.

Thanks Jacob for the info, out of interest what speed are the searches ? is it possible to do a morph search yet ? I suppose what I am asking is does L4 run the same on the touch as a PC, I know it is early days for all the functionality to be avaliable, but will all the functionality of L4 eventually be availible on the touch ?
Thanks.

While we do plan to add features to the iPhone app, it is very unlikely that the iPhone app will ever be functionally equivalent to Logos 4 on the desktop. The physical and technical constraints alone make it impractical.

I understand what you are saying !! and I am sure that L4 on the touch is and will be a great way to access some of the great features of L4, thanks Dave for your speedy response and helpful answer.

does anyone know the size of the app for the ipod? Also, do you get your library only when you are connected to the internet?

Searches are very quick because the work is done on Logos' server not on the iPhone. I haven't tried to do a morph search. Doubt it would be possible at this time. It is not the same functionality (missing a lot right now: notes and highlighting being the main basic ones). Also, be very aware that the search and report capability (even following links) is unavailable in offline mode. It truly is read only when offline

Logos iPhone App is 1,2 MB size. You have to have Internet access to open your library, however you can than download books of your choice to use them in the offline mode.

Thanks again Jacob for that. I hope you don`t mind another question, but I have found while researching the touch that one of the biggest drains on the battery is using the wifi all the time, and as you have said, at the moment to access and use all the features that are available on L4 requires continual access to a wireless connection, my question is how does your battery perform ?

I don't recall seeing anything on this, but when I tap on a bible reference link in offline mode, I don't get the ref to pop up. Is this a bug or not available. I do have the Bible tagged for offline reading and it's also set as my default Bible. (ESV), even thought I usually read from the NLT. I chose ESV since it has the reverse interlinear and it's available for offline reading. That's one of the main things I like about reading commentaries in Logos...I don't have to keep looking up the reference in a print Bible.
Also, when I'm online and I tap the link to go to the reference, it's not taking me there.
Another thing....often the Bible reference link is so close to the edge of the screen that it turns the page instead of accessing the link.
FYI I've just had my Touch for 2 days and I absolutely LOVE it.

I have Logos 4 on my home computer and the Logos app on my iTouch. I'm using the same login for both, but they don't really seem to synchronize. I'll use the iTouch and find the Bible I just used on my home computer is back a few chapters on the iTouch--I have even opened the app in a WiFi area to give it a chance to sync. Is there a certain procedure for making these two sync. Thanks!
I'm new to this Blog--I hope this goes through correctly.
Thanks!

Reading plans & favorites sync. I'm pretty sure that last location opened does not sync. This should probably be added.
The Logos iPhone app respects your resource prioritization preferences.
Is there anything else you were looking to have sync or only your last-open location?
Welcome to the forums. In the future, when you are opening a new question like this, it would be best to start a new thread (in this case in the iPhone forum). This is sorta hidden and you might be limited as to the number of people who find it in order to respond and also the number of people who find it in the future while maybe wanting to ask the same question.

It does work in certain circumstances, but there is a bug in the app the prevents it from working in most cases. If you have not opened a book on the iPhone it will get the last position from the server, but if you have already opened it on the iPhone it will use the last position from the iPhone. This behavior will be fixed in a future version so that the position is always retrieved from the server, which will have the position from the desktop software.
The exception to this is when opening a Bible from another Bible. If you are in ESV at John 3:16 and open NLT, it will open to John 3:16 regardless of what position NLT was in before.
