Not directly affected - but as the pastor of two rural churches, I am very much aware of the limited INTERNET access that many Christians who live outside of urban areas have, even in the US.

Mark,. there was definitely talk of DVD updates being made available. But, that was a while ago.

I would hope that after the release of 4.0b that Logos might make available a program and resource update DVD. It's over 3 months since the release of Logos 4.0 which I believe is the appropriate length of time for a physical update to be made available.

I have slow modem internet via mobile phone. e.g. it took me 4 days and 4 nights to download Logos 4 ,Leaders Pack. Didn't even have that till September. Don't get so sophisticated that you forget us missionaries and others who also much appreciate your help with Bible study!

I live in Northeast TN and have dial-up. I can't even log into Logos to try to download anything. They let me know how to update the basic program and suggested I not update the books in my bible Study package.

I agree completely. I have missionary friends in Africa that have to spend over a day traveling to an internet cafe to be able to even email reports. I remember some blog posts from Bob concerning wouldn't it be "great to equip every missionary with a laptop computer and a seminary library in Logos before they go to the mission field." Evidently, it may have slipped his mind that missionaries are in the workfields without broadband internet to accept the numerous updates to Logos 4 that have been coming out. I am not putting Bob down for running his company for profit and survivability; however, once you have stated that you want to be able to equip missionaries for the work, don't pull the library away from them.

Some of the users should go back and read the blogs from years ago that describe the vision that Bob and other Logos employees had for the portability of a seminary library that was self contained on a laptop. Now it seems that there must be a broadband connection where you go. And Logos may be headed more down the route of being web-based only.
