Just wondering if anyone knows how to change the default commentary that comes when searching a verse.
Open your library, then change to the "prioritize" view (top right). Drag your preferred commentary from the left hand list of books, then make sure it's the highest place commentary in your right hand column.
Hope that makes sense!
I have tried that and still no luck any more ideas.
Are you talking about searching in Logos 4 Mac, or in iPhone/iPod touch version?
Logos for Mac.
Just so we have all the information in the forums here: what version of the alpha, what OS, which resource are you having problems with etc.
Not entirely sure what you mean. Prioritize Resources affects what shows up first for most tasks, such as passage guide. But if you are doing a basic search on a verse then it draws from your entire library, not just commentaries.
Where are you entering the verse reference?
I think you are wanting to set resources connected with Link A. Does that sound right?

Well Seeing as I am not sure what Link A is I will say this lol. I was wondering if when you do a basic passage search from the whole page can you change the default book that comes up where you all you resources. Sorry Guys this is really the only way I know to say it lol.
Thanks For Your Help
John,
Keep in mind, all this is based on if I understand Link Sets or if I am just dreaming of how I would like them to work of course. When I mention "Link Set A" basically it is like having your first string (A) resources and second string (B) resources and so on. It could be tailored to your needs.
Ideally, I would create a Link Set A for Sermon Prep (the resources I typically use for preparing sermons). I still have access to others, but I get the most of our these.
I have Link Set B for Academic Studies.
Link Set C could be for Devotional Study.
Link Set D could be for Teaching Preparation.
Only problem, I can't get mine to stick. I have tried to create Link Set A in L4 Mac and it keeps reverting. I like the ESV people, but just not as much as Logos.
It would be nice if I could, in Library, I could "right click" or "control click" a resource and designate it to one, two or however many resource tags. After the latest PC index (a few days ago) L4 has become painfully slow to use on my very antiquated PC.
My default resource commentary is Critical Commentary JBD (I think). I was able to prioritize my Bibles but I still can't remove ESV from the A List.
Hi David,
I'm not sure the Link Sets are designed to function the way you are intending to use them. I don't know of an "Open Link Set A" feature, you know?
My understanding is that you can have multiple books open, but for argument lets say you have a commentary and ESV Bible open to study Romans 8, and concurrently you have a different commentary and NLT Bible open to Genesis 1. If you want to keep your first resources in lockstep, you'd set them to Link Set A. But if you set the NLT and your second commentary to Link Set A, you'd have them jumping around in your Romans passage, not staying with Genesis. So, you'd set the NLT and commentary to Link Set B.
To the best of my knowledge, any prioritizing of resources so that they show up at the top of your lists during searches, is achieved by prioritizing them in the library.
That way, if you did a passage search for a specific verse etc., the top commentary listed would be your highest prioritized commentary providing the commentary contains results for that search.
Does that make any sense?

Jonathan,
It makes sense. Like I said, I may be dreaming...I think it would great if there was an Open Link Set A feature though...
Sorry for any confusion I may have caused.

Like I said, I could be horribly wrong... and we're all learning together here!

Can't you create that with Layouts?
Jack,
I thought I could create Layouts fine. Maybe I am going about it the hard way. I do my search on say Daniel 5 and pull everything related in and then start eliminating resources and save my Layout as, say, Daniel 5. I do a different Layout for each sermon or study. I have always just used Logos as a research tool (like 6 years), but I am learning more and more with L4 that I can do a lot more with it. My PC was choppy in performance (but usable) with L3 and has proven the same with L4 so I prefer to use the Mac only.
Is there an easier way to do it? What tips do yo have? I will have to go to a Morris Proctor Seminar one day...

I prefer to use the Mac only.
I would like to use the Mac only, but L4 Mac is not there yet. I still use Windows under Parallels for Bible Study.
I do a different Layout for each sermon or study
I have tried to create basic layouts for different areas of study. Then I create more specific layouts for any series I am studying. Morris Proctor indicated that he has layouts for each stage in sermon prep, but I haven't yet learned all his steps. So far, I have the first two and a half.

If at all possible, you should attend one. You will not regret it.
