Books on Hell

The subject of developing a good apologetic for a biblical understanding of hell came up recently. I have Chan's book, but I was wondering what other resources some of you might recommend.

Edward Fudge has an excellent book titled "The Fire that Consumes: A Biblical and Historical Study of the Doctrine of Final Punishment". Available in Logos at: https://www.logos.com/product/20263/the-fire-that-consumes-a-biblical-and-historical-study-of-the-doctrine-of-final-punishment-3rd-ed
The pre-pub price was about half of what it was going for now, so a sales person might be able to help you out.
I'm not sure what view you are wanting to study so I will include this snippet from the Overview:
"It concludes that hell is a place of total annihilation, everlasting destruction, although the destructive process encompasses conscious torment of whatever sort, intensity, and duration God might require in each individual case."

I love the books which have multiple perspectives because the strengths/weaknesses of a position are often brought out by the other essays and rebuttals.

Here's a link to a list of books on Hell in Logos: https://www.logos.com/products/search?Topic=Doctrine+of+Hell
Personally, I would recommend Hell Under Fire. I quite enjoyed it, even though my views on other biblical and theological principles differ strongly from the writers, I found this book to be really informative and very strong.

For apologetics as cultural background read
The History of Hell by Alice K. Turner and Donadio & Olson - sorry its not in Logos
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I second the recommendation of this book. The book has depth and is grounded in Scripture. It's good to read books from both sides of the argument. Unfortunately, it cost 4x more to buy it from Logos than Amazon.

I enjoyed Wall's book https://www.logos.com/product/50151/heaven-hell-and-purgatory-rethinking-the-things-that-matter-most Granted his perspective on a protestant view of purgatory is a bit out of the box (but not for Dallas Willard so it is worth a look). He is a professor of philosophy and comes at things from that angle, but at the same time does try to anchor things biblically as well.

Very good, thoughtful, direct book from a pastor who did not used to believe in hell but does now.

Lots of good choices. I grabbed Hell is Real on Kindle, I'm querying my sales rep on Fudge because that seems the most thorough treatment. Another work or two might get grabbed. Thanks everyone for all the good choices.

I found the Evangelical Alliance in UK's book "The Nature of Hell", ed. David Hilborn (not in Logos or Vyrso, unfortunately), very interesting. Spoiler Alert: The conlusion is freely available online: http://www.eauk.org/church/resources/theological-articles/upload/The-Nature-of-Hell.pdf
Have joy in the Lord!

I especially like Brandon's recommendation above (Hell Under Fire) along with https://www.logos.com/product/41714/erasing-hell-what-god-said-about-eternity-and-the-things-we-made-up for a little easier reading.
