I hope not because I am not ready for another major investment in a Logos package for a while since I just bought the "Fathers of the Church" series.

Except the majority of enhancements available in Logos Now, which I would suggest he get if he really needs it, as long as he realizes that Logos now offered new features but they are not all fully implemented or done (from my understanding, I am not a NOW subscriber). I most definitely am not ready for 7 and hope it it;s not till next fall, although I suppose a cross grade is usually an affordable option but i believe for those who need the latest Logos has to offer that Logos Now was brought out.

I can wait for L7 also, not looking forward to another upgrade/crossgrade at this time. It would be too soon in my opinion.
I tried Logos Now for a few months, and I do like some of the enhancements that it brings, but I cancelled for the time being until funds can support it.

I suspect the way we think about this may depend on what we envision Logos 7 to be. Historically the major upgrades of Logos have truly been major - relatively infrequent, relatively expensive, and representing very significant increases in functionality. There is a reasonable case to be made for more frequent, smaller, less expensive upgrades - say twice as often, half the price and half the increase in functionality in each step. If that's what you're looking for, something towards the end of this year would make more sense.

What I would like for Christmas is a good sale. I did not find last year's great. But there was one 2-3 years ago that was really good, with credit back in proportion to purchases. I think it would actually be useful at this point to start voicing our wishes since they are probably planning these sales. We might state what we would like and what we would not like.
For my part, it's great to have say a Zondervan package that costs $5,000 and has $1,500 off, but I simply cannot dish out this kind of money on a package at once. So, my Christmas wish would be deals that the rest of us can afford. Secondly, let there be a bit for everyone. I'd love to see special deals on individual Anchor commentaries and other top-notch commentaries that are normally prohibitive such as Eerdman's Critical Commentaries or Baker Commentaries on the Old Testament. Specials on feature collections could be nice as well...

Why don't they put all of "top-notch commentaries" in a bundle and offer a deep discount. This will be a good gift to all. Come on, FL.

Your southern soberness of thinking is refreshing. I envision L7 as being one of the most completed, user friendly, functional Bible Software in the world. Why? The number 7, in the Bible, is identified with something being “finished” or “complete.”
In short, Logos 7, overall should be a product (at least, the outline) of completeness, perfection, and wholeness of Bible software. It should be like a little girl, growing toward womanhood. All the she is to become is within. It a matter of time she will manifest a new look, functions and capabilities. Like a little girl, it will have its growth changes and challenges, but it will mature. This I see Logos 7 will do. Additional books in the years to come will be like clothes a girl/woman wears.
Furthermore, one grows with a little girl that rightfully belongs to him/her. No one leaves a healthy child elsewhere until she is grown and then, brings her home. A child is under the watch care of an adult or caregiver (Faithlife/Users of L-7). A child grows with its parent(s).

You stated clearly the old way of doing business.
Another approach, Faithlife can do, is to give the Logos Users the broad outline of Logos 7 (the last chapter). This way we will know what's coming, even if it is not fully functional. The make-up L-7 is top secret? Are they afraid someone is going steal their ideas. Back to the little girl, because someone shares ideas about how they are going to raise their daughter and take steps to implement them, would be wrong or dangerous?
Logos 7 can be like building and buying a new house. There are two ways of doing this:
- "Turn Key"-- You wait for everything to be finished. Put the key in the lock, turn it and live.
- Live-in, while completing-- Remember to old "Jim Walter Homes" Plan? You are fully aware of the overall plans, features, sizes, space, etc. They do all the major structural work and the finishing touches are done by the owner.
Let us have Logos 7 and the outline of the new features, knowing that the engineers may still have some tweeting to do on them. When one can give input to the finishing touches, one feels a greater sense of ownership and appreciated.

- I long for the day that FaithLife and the users of Logos Bible Software can come up with a plan to give everyone total and full access to all books and data sets for an affordable fee. There will be no more buying books or whose library is the largest? A little collaboration and will can do wonders. You will be surprised what adult Christians, in a business mindset, can come up with. "Where there's a will, there's a way."
- The last part is this: I wish it was sooner, rather than later or never.

Please, tell me, L-7, when it comes out (not likely in Dec 2015), will we get a written manual for the new features? You may answer me on the thread of "user manual" if you choose. Is there a likelihood that FL might surprise everyone and roll out L-7 in Dec 2015? Since softwares developed very fast, can FL afford to wait much longer? Some will be ready, others will not and a few, will be never ready.

When Logos 6 was announced, Faithlife indicated that they were moving to a 2 year cycle so I'd expect something more like November 2016 give or take 6 months. I think Faithlife will continue to increase the documentation but there is such a wide range of what people expect a "manual" to contain that I wouldn't expect a manual on new features but rather a continuation of the types of documentation they have been providing for Logos 6 and post 6 features. No inside information - simply reasoning from experience.
