I bought the Blank Bible and Sermons package from the recent sale, and while looking at a note in the Blank Bible, I've run into a question.
The note for 5:17 says:
JE’s sermon on 2 Cor. 5:17 (no. 1005), preached Sept. 1751, with the doctrines: “1. What is meant by being in Christ. 2. How he that is in Christ is a new creature. 3. How old things are passed away in him that is in Christ and all things are become new” (MS, p. 1).
I do not see a sermon on 2 Cor 5:17 in the sermons book. If I do a Passage Guide search for 2 Cor 5, the only JE sermon that appears is 2 Cor 5:8. The book that this sermon is in covers his sermons from 1743-1758. When I do a search for 1005 to find that sermon, it doesn't appear as a sermon but in the index in the book on page 742:
1005. 2 Cor. 5:17. “1. What is meant by being in Christ. 2. How he that is in Christ is a new creature. 3. How old things are passed away in him that is in Christ, and all things are become new.” Sept. 1751. Stockbridge Indians and Mohawks.
Is this a sermon that we know about but don't have the text to? Is this a sermon that's located elsewhere in the JE collection?
