New Feature: Text Comparison

The initial view looks great!
A nice side benefit is that this provides a clean text of a Bible passage without note superscripts etc. for cut & paste purposes.
I like how you guys are working on this, releasing new features whenever they are ready. It's nice to be surprised like this!

You, however show three side by side. It seems my resource tab isn't wide enough to accomplish this. Am I doing something wrong?

Yeah, I was taking the screenshot on a pretty huge monitor. Each column will take up a certain minimum width. I think 250 pixels is what I set it at. If it would overflow then it just drops to the next row. If you had a very narrow panel, they would just be one after the other.Seth, I can only seem to get two versions side by side. What would you prefer, there could be a horizontal scroll bar, and/or I also could make the columns narrower. I could dynamically adjust the width of the columns possibly to be as small as needed to fit side by side, but that might get really narrow if you have more than 3 resources.
I had toyed with the idea of in the big view port displaying the data in a tabular fashion and then in the small view port a card like fashion. This would allow me in the large view port of putting all the verses side by side and show how every verse lines up exactly with the other. Then in the example I posted above to it would be very clear that the ESV doesn't include John 5:4 while the KJV does. Then when the panels got below a certain size, we would change into a different view, where we should show each resource's version of the reference one after the other stacked on top of each other. I'll try and show an example below.

However, the problem with that is some people might prefer to read an entire passage as one unit, and the small viewport would make it harder to do that.For now, although it is somewhat tedious to do, you can close all other tabs, and then drag the text comparison tab to the middle, to use the width of the whole window. That should allow you to at least compare four resources side by side.

I understand the limitations of screen real estate. A slider isn't too helpful, since I want to see text side-by-side and a slider doesn't really allow that. I have two other suggestions.
One, give us a text size slider that might allow us to get at least a third column showing with the current layout limitations.
Second, let us resize the two 'windows' in the app so I can use up to the entire screen for this tool if i wanted to. (Give us #1 as well when you do this.)
Unfortunately, I'd have to say it's not so handy the way it is now. In Logos 6 I currently can get 12 columns side by side with a somewhat readable type size; 11 easily readable when I am full screen at 1920 pixels, without need of a slider. I don't usually do that many texts, but do use five or six texts regularly.

Dud you try what I mentioned above, albeit somewhat unclearly? If you close all but one of any tab, then drag that tab to the middle you will be able to have it take up the entire width. Then any tabs opened after that will also take up the entire width. Tedious yes, but it should allow you to see many text comparisons side by side, and we do plan on generally improving panel layouts in the not too distant future, which should also hope.

Thinking about what you said Mark, I tried messing around with a few settings and I definitely think there are some quick improvements I'm going to try and make tomorrow. With the changes I tested I'm able to get 4 columns across in the half window size, and 8 across in the full window size on my laptop.

No I hadn't but now I have. I can get five side-by-side that way.
As you said, it sort of ruins the layout from that point on.
I imagine creating flexible sized panels must be more complicated inside a browser window. I look forward to what you can come up with.

The text comparison tool has been updated. The verses now align, the column widths are dynamically adjusted, and there have been a few other style tweaks.
You should be able to fit many more versions side-by-side now. Try it out! Let me know what you think, and any other improvements that you feel should be made.-Seth

That's a great improvement. In a half screen I can get four-six Bibles without them being too narrow to be useful.
