Logos Indexer utilizing excessive CPU power

The Logos Indexer is overburdening the CPU on my MacBook Pro. It is consuming upwards of 375-450 % of the CPU according to the Activity Monitor. If left running, it will consume a completely charged batters in 15-20 minutes! Of course, if do not shut down the Indexer in the Activity Monitor, the MBP will overheat and I have to shut it down. This problem has appeared only within the last month or so. If anyone has experienced this, and can recommend a solution, I would be very grateful.
