I really like the Read
Aloud feature and use it for my daily devotions. I use Paul and
Kate's voices from Neospeech / Nextup.com.
However, these voices
don't seem to recognize English contractions. Don't is pronounced don-tee. You're is pronounced you-ray. God's is
pronounced God-es. Doesn't is simply spelled out letter by letter.
This is very
distracting, especially with Bible translations that use a lot of contractions
in dialogs. I emailed Nextup.com and they said this is happening because
the Logos text uses the "curly apostrophe" instead of the
"straight apostrophe".
Is it possible that L4
provide some kind of filter to convert the the "curly
apostrophes" back to "straight apostrophes" so that the SAPI
interface recognizes these words? It's a very significant flaw as it
stands right now.
Note: The AT&T
voices have the same problem. I've tried the Anna voice in Windows 7 and
its pronunciation is much inferior compared to the Neospeech voices.
Thanks,
Peter
