In reference to the WordPress plugin:
Why do you install tracking code onto the websites of users who use Reftagger without clearly telling us beforehand?
We track the following information when a user loads a page that has RefTagger installed:
We record this diagnostic information so that we can make sure that we have sufficient scale to keep the service performant and so that we can verify that RefTagger is running smoothly and appropriately on third-party sites.
We will update reftagger.com in the near future with this information.
Fair enough, thank you, David. I need to be able to tell my visitors in good conscious that I am not violating their trust in any way. It came as a surprise when I saw the tracking coming from my site and I had to ask. Thanks again.
Is it reftagger.com already updated with this information? This is not acceptable. We have to comply with a new law in the EU, and this shares private information with another entity. (See: https://www.eugdpr.org/)We need an option to disable this tracking, because now a user has to opt in this kind of tracking.
Hi Paul, the tracking information tracks the site, not the user. We're not tracking or sharing any information about a user.
