TIP of the day: Logos tagging #10: Factbook datasets - Place

1. The Biblical Place entry works very much like the Biblical Person entry - disambiguating multiple places with the same name and combining multiple names for a single location. Again the primary features of the Context Menu are Factbook, Searches and Bible Dictionaries ... with the Atlas entry finally making sense.

2. Items unique to Place in the Factbook entry are the list of nearby places (selection criteria unknown), and two external links - Wikipedia and Google maps.

3. Following the link to Google maps - 3 clicks from the Bible text.

4. Don't forget that many of the references to Factbook tagging have popup windows with a definition and a distribution diagram.

5. Opening the Atlas takes one to an appropriate map but not necessarily the appropriate event overlay. One can make the map more appropriate by making a more appropriate selection from the left-name list.

with more appropriate event selection

6. As with <Person>, <Place> only finds that subset of resources that has Logos tagging. You may expand that tagging via Community Tags. You may search all documents via a simple string Search.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Thanks MJ for the last three Tips of the day that focus on Factbook datasets. I especially like how you clearly showed which datatsets are being referenced in various places. Certainly it is very much worth the while to take time to better understand datasets as it will immensely help when conducting searches.
