SUGGESTION: Better Download and Delete Options in Logos for Videos

I do not understand this. It makes no sense whatsoever! When you get a video from Logos (whether it is Mobile Ed or something else) you have only ONE option: Download All Media. In a day and age of internet being throttled and streaming videos taking up a lot of bandwidth usage, it makes sense to watch videos from your computer, but with them downloaded to your computer. In the past I have tried to stream the Logos videos, but the quality was choppy and sometimes the buffering never even finished so I could not finish the video. So I gave up on that useless idea and started downloading the videos. The problem is, sometimes I want to specify which videos I want to download and when to download them. It makes no sense to have an all or nothing option. This is simply illogical. On your mobile device (phone or tablet) you can see how many MB a video is and you can choose which ones you want to download. I do not understand why that is not in the desktop app.

Therefore, I would like to suggest that Logos add the ability to choose which videos we want to download. I would like to be able to see how many MB each video is, and how many MB or GB it would be to download ALL. Also, I would like to be able to see the status of each video being downloaded. A status bar showing how much is left to download and how many MB is left to download for each video when downloading one at a time and for when you decide to download all at once. Also, I need the ability to delete and re-download individual videos. Sometimes videos do not download properly and I have to re-download them. Currently, all I can do is delete ALL videos and re-download ALL videos. THIS MAKES NO LOGICAL SENSE! It is a HUGE hassle!! Therefore, I need the ability to download, delete, and re-download individual videos as well as all videos. Currently, there are videos in Camp Logos 1 and Learn to Use Biblical Hebrew with Logos 6 that have not downloaded or downloaded correctly (as in, the video will not play). My only option is to delete the videos a second time and re-download them all a second time!! That is stupid, illogical, unreasonable, a hassle, and very frustrating! Therefore, more options for downloading and delete must be given to the user.

I would also like to see a pause option. Not just a cancel option. There are times I have to pause the download for some reason. Say, for example, I am at school and I am downloading Logos videos and class ends. Well, currently, all I have is the option to cancel the download and start it up again later on. There is no pause option so I can resume where it left off. I think the canceling and restarting is contributing to the problems I am having with video playback. So please add the aforementioned suggestions. It would greatly improve user experience in this area.

While I support every one of your requests, I would advise you to remember that you are posting in the SUGGESTIONS forum, not the MANDATES forum (if that one were to exist!).

Caleb S. this should be posted in the "General Forum."

Suggestions seems the appropriate forum to me. General is the catch-all that implies no response from Faithlife anticipated - suggestions implies that at a minimum Caleb wants Logos to add this to the "possible enhancement" list and review the idea for priority and possible implementation on a regular review cycle.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Sorry. It wasn't supposed to sound like a mandate. I was posting this while very frustrated because one of the videos I was going to share with my mom, dad, and brother (since they all have Logos 6 because of me) could not play because it says "We could not access the media you're trying to play..." and I had already had to delete the videos once before and re-download them all again because of problems. Since I share internet with my parents and siblings at the moment, downloading them at home (again) is very impractical and could push us over our data usage limit (again) (that combined with me downloading new pre-pub resources every week, getting more Mobile Ed courses [almost] every month, all of us streaming video through netflix, and my mom working from home). So, I posted my suggestion that I had been thinking about for a while, but while frustrated and irritated. I did not mean for it come across as a mandate or as a forceful suggestion.

I will say that it really does not make any sense to have an "all or nothing" option when downloading videos in desktop app, while the mobile apps have much more precise download/delete options. Logos has many features that do not have a "one size fits all" "all or nothing" mentality, since they know many different people use the program differently. So, to have features that have the  "one size fits all" "all or nothing" mentality does not fit the rest of the program or their perspective.

Improving the download options for individual options (in the desktop software) is on our task backlog; I've added a link from the case to this thread so we can update you when there are relevant announcements.
