Help with Apochryphal and deuterocanonical resources

In one of the readings in NT221 from The HarperCollins Bible Dictionary in the eschatology section there are a LOT of references to apocryphal and deuterocanonical books. When I hover over the references to read those passages, some come up in the NSRV, some come up in a resource "Pseudepigrapha of the Old Testament"

However, some references come up in the UBS Handbook which isn't actually a resource for reading the passage. I have Logos 5 Platinum, Logos 6 Gold, and a LOT of additional resources. The passages which default to the UBS Handbook are from: Tobit, Wisdom of Solomon and Judith.

So, my question is two fold:

1) Is the a prioritization issue where I actually may have a resource which I can use to read these passages, but it is choosing to bring it up in UBS Handbook because it isn't prioritized?

2) Do I need to get a resource or two which would contain these references directly, and if so, what do you all recommend?

I confess that this is stretching for me. I have no experience with reading or studying these references.

I've done a bit of digging. The resource i have "Pseudepigrapha of the Old Testament" is by R.H. Charles and it is part of a two volume set. The other volume is "Apocrypha of the Old Testament"

This other volume has the passages in it which are coming up in the UBS Handbook.

so, how do I fix this so they come up in the R.H. Charles resource instead of the UBS Handbook?

1. It does have to do with prioritization, but it seems that for some of the references the best it can find is the UBS.

2. Yes, most of mine open in Old Testament Pseudepigrapha (2 vols.), which would be good to have, while some of them also open in the NRSV and the Dead Sea Scrolls Database, due to my prioritization of those resources over Charlesworth's OTP above.

If they are in RH Charles, then you simply need to prioritize that over the other resources that opened them (them being the works cited).

There is a two-volume (I believe it ends up as six volumes in Logos due to text, apparatus, and commentary) by R.H. Charles on the Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha of the Old Testament. Some of the "apocrypha" found in the NRSV is actually in the Pseudepigrapha volume. My guess is that's what you're seeing here. You may want to move that series down a bit in your priority (though you are actually getting to translations of the material with these volumes, it is just categorized differently.

My guess here is that yes, you have the UBS Handbooks prioritized. There are commentaries/handbooks in this series for the books you mention, which is why they're showing.

You have a few options, likely already in your library. First, if you have the NRSV, it has the apocrypha/deuterocanon text. Second, you may have the Lexham English Septuagint, an English translation of the Greek Old Testament which also includes these writings. I'd move either (or both) up in your resource priority (but not high enough to effect your English Bible translation prioritization).

Thanks to both Rick and Joseph.

I opened up prioritization and made three changes which seem to have solved the problem. I removed the UBS Handbook from my prioritization list as well as Lange's Commentary Series. Neither of them really needed to be there, I had placed them in the prioritization list a few years ago for some long forgotten reason. I then added the R.H. Charles Text Resource (you are correct Rick, it shows up as 6 resources, not 2). That now gets me the ability to read the text of all these passages from Charles' 2 volume set.

As i mentioned earlier, this is completely out of my realm of experience, having never read anything from the Pseudepigrapha or Apocrypha. My remaining question: I have the NSRV and also the English text from the Septuagint along with the 2 (6) volumes by Charles. Which of these would be the best one to prioritize the highest in order that it defaults to being shown when I hover my mouse over a passage? Or, is there another even better resource?

The NRSV is the translation typically used in academic contexts. So if you were taking this class as a course at a school, chances are your readings would be assigned in the NRSV.

That said, I'm partial to the Lexham English Septuagint, but I may be just a bit biased on that one.
