Looking up a word in more than one lexicon

Hi everyone,

I'm sure this is blantaly obvious, but I've not been able to find the right words to search for to find an answer. Sorry if I'm cluttering up the forum with an easily-found question and answer.

In Libornix 3, I had my keylinking setup so that when I looked up a word in Greek, it would search 3 different lexicons. Currently, in Logos 4, when I double click a word, it only opens up / looks up in one lexicon.

What I would like is for when I double click a Greek word, it would look it up both in the DBL and BDAG, but have BDAG be the one "on top." I have them both prioirtized, with BDAG being higher, but when I double click a word, only BDAG moves to the word's entry.

Like I said, I'm sure it's an easy fix, but I appreicate being pointed in the right direction.

I don't know of a way to do exactly what you're asking, but when you click and one lexicon comes up, you can then use the right arrow key to move to your next one.

Sorry, Tim, Logos 4 does not allow this.

There is a workaround if you want to try it. It would function off the right click menu.

First create a collection with just the lexicons you want to show up.

Then, create a custom Bible Word Study Guide. Eliminate every part of the guide except the first part (definition).

In the drop-down menu specify the collection you created.

Name the custom guide something like: Greek Lexicons.

Close the guide.

Now right click on a Greek word, be sure the 'tab' is 'Lemma' and look for your new Guide by name (in the example below it is called 'Dictionary Look-Up'). Select it and it will open your lexicons to that work within the Bible Word Study pane.

Ah, that does work. I would kind of prefer to have the word look up in the different lexicons I have opened in different tabs. Is there not a way to do that?

EDIT: Thanks for that reply, Mark. At least it confirms that I'm not completely nuts. Seems kind of strange to me, this seems like such basic functionailty to not have it function in the program.

Ah, well, I think I'll adjust to the right-arrow solution Gary posted above. Thanks for that again.

In designing Logos 4, Logos decided against giving us control over keylinking. It was that ability in Logos 3 that allowed us to do what you wanted.

There is another way to get close, and that is simply to open and link together the lexicons you want to search. Be sure the one you'd double click on is in the link set. Then when you click on your Greek word you can just click on each lexicon's tab and see the definitions. This preserves the individual lexicons in their own panes. The right and left arrows replace the current lexicon with the new one which you might not want.

Have no fear Timothy, what you are requesting is coming in Logos4.0b. It is in beta testing. I can use the right arrow and scroll from one lexicon to the other.

Sorry Tim, I misread your request. What you can do is open up the Lexicons that you want to use and make a layout. Then save it. Be sure to link them. When you want to look them up, open the layout.
