Flashcard App: Orientation Lock

Is there a reason that flashcards on the App can only be used horizontally on an iPhone? It seems that it would be rather simple to make it usable with the phone held vertically. This simple accommodation would be very helpful, because it is comfortable to hold the vertically and navigate with your thumb but rather clumsy to try holding it horizontally while using the app.

    The Flashcard app was designed to work horizontally and I am not aware of any plans to support vertical mode.
