Propositional Outlines Help

I am a seminary student and we are working on a devotional for Matthew 5:8. My professor asked me to find information on a question I came across.

In Matthew 5:8 (and the other beatitudes) I noticed that the proposition outline has "for they shall see God" listed as "cause" to "Blessed are the pure in heart."

I'm curious as to why the creator of this dataset did this, and I am unable to reach him so if anyone can explain why this decision was made I would be very grateful.

HMM. I suppose it seems a bit obvious to me so I might misunderstand. The outline is saying that the reason (cause) that a pure in heart person is (will be) blessed is because he/she will see God. Each of the beatitudes is so stated: Category of Blessed People then Cause of (reason for) Blessing.

Is this not your understanding of the relationship between these pairs of clauses or am I missing something?

Thanks for the reply. I understand what you are saying, but when my classmates and I saw this we thought it might be saying that seeing God is the cause of a pure heart, not the result of a pure heart. I should have made that more clear.

This is a case where making sure you're understanding each linguistic level helps. See the arrow which shows how that interpretation would change the chart.
