The Vyrso mobile app has a setting to display only Vyrso books and downloaded Logos Edition books.

Illustrated here: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/118071/788652.aspx#788652

Many mobile apps users would like to be able to display only downloaded resources without having to take their devices offline.

The "local:" Library filter has been present in both Android and iOS mobile apps for years.

    1) Open the Library view.
    2) Enter "local:" in the "Find" field.

This will show all downloaded resources.

I'm not sure, but you might have misunderstood this setting.  Many Vyrso customers wish to only view Vyrso resources, but this setting is unrelated to downloaded resources.  I might be missing something though... ?

Kevin thanks for responding - I saw you were in the forums and posted hoping that you would notice. I tried to summarize a desire alluded to in a thread in the Vyrso: Christian Ebooks forum and expressed in several threads in the mobile apps forums. (https://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en#hl=en&q=site:community.logos.com+%22only+downloaded%22)

Many Vyrso customers wish to only view Vyrso resources, but this setting is unrelated to downloaded resources.

See the illustration below for clarification of how this setting relates to downloaded resources.

I know that Vyrso has an option to show only edition:e book (Vyrso only). I have never heard that there is a switch for local:

The setting includes both cases - see description below:

This results in - for example - a downloaded ESV to be present in the Library even with the switch set

Yeah, but that implies that they know how to create a switch for downloaded resources and did so... for a very limited purpose... and haven't spent the time to have one for the regular, everyday purpose. For my sanity, I would prefer to think that it was accidental rather than purposeful... else their lack of creating a dedicated "downloaded" switch is maddening.

Note the potential consternation prompted by uncertainty why this setting works as illustrated.

Well, now you've got me totally confused.  I don't understand at all - what do you think should happen (and please be specific)?

The subject of this thread, "Toggle Setting to Display Only Downloaded Resources" is not related to Vyrso, and all of your screenshots are from the iOS apps (this is the Android App forum).  There already exists a way to show downloaded resources by entering "local:" in the Library reference field.

Well, now you've got me totally confused.  I don't understand at all - what do you think should happen (and please be specific)?

I am suggesting to implement a setting that will allow the mobile apps, Android app included, to only show downloaded resources in the library. I also posted links to where this has been requested in other threads throughout the forums.

    • The existing filter is not a setting.
    • Users can also turn off internet connectivity on the device to see only downloaded resources in the apps but this disables other features, not to mention limits what can be done with the device outside of the app.

The illustration I linked to and later reposted does indeed show the iOS app where the setting restricts the app to only show Vyrso books and downloaded resources, which includes downloaded Logos Editions. It was intended to convey that such a setting as I am suggesting may be possible. That such a setting is desired is reflected by the response from the same thread that I also reposted as well as by the explicit requests made for such a setting in the other threads to which I provided links.

I am sorry for being unclear and hope that now I have been specific enough.

As I have said before, that is a horrible implementation. "Power users" shouldn't be the only ones who can perform this task.

One reason I have found this insufficient is that it limits what else can be done in the library. Suppose I want to find all the books currently downloaded with mytag:worship. Having to enter local: prevents me from also being able to use mytag:worship. I get zero results when I use both at the same time. The only current solution, as has been mentioned, is to keep turning Internet access on and off.

EDIT: To clarify, I am using the Bible app for Android, not the Vyrso app. Adding a switch to only show downloaded resources would be a welcome addition to all of the mobile apps.
