Would there be any utility for salespersons being able to search for resources by LLS numbers? 

I come to this question by way of a recent experience with requesting resource information I could not find; see this comment in this thread if you want further elaboration  https://community.logos.com/forums/p/117980/789797.aspx#789797 

Perhaps this will offer no further advantage over the present catalog system, but it might untie a knotted situation when someone is in search of a resource where this information is given.
