A quick reminder for those requesting help with installation or use of Logos on Linux. The following information will help us attempt to help you with troubleshooting.
What Distribution are you running? (Distro and Version - Ubuntu 22.04)
What method of install are you using? (Script, Appimage, Wasta, Straight Install)
What version of Wine are you using? (Run the wine --version command - L10 requires Staging)What version of Logos are you using? (Three dots, About Logos Bible Software - Tech Support Information)
Knowing this information will allow us to avoid having to ask for it

I've tried to stick to basics; my abilities with Linux don't extend far beyond that! :-P Here's the info you requested:
Linux distribution: Wasta 20.04
Logos install method: AppImage (AppImage of Wine 64 v7.18-staging; last option of step 3 using the Ferion script)

I know they say Linux is 1%... However, that's because we're forced back into windows when we cannot get the main software we need for our jobs / ministries / &c...
Logos is the single and only reason I'm still using Windows... I've used a virtual box before, but jumping back and forth between Linux and Windows is just not worth it.
Linux Mint for example, is absolutely fantastic software that way more people would use IF they could.

Hi again... I never did get Logos 10 installed on my previous attempts, but today when I ran Logos 9 I got the message that "support is ending--upgrade to Logos 10 as soon as possible." So here I am again! :-P
I downloaded the latest ferion script (3.6.3-1) and when I ran ./LogosLinuxInstaller.sh I got:

I tried to find xmllint in Synaptic Package Manager, but couldn't. However, winbind (2:4.15.13), cabextract (1.9-3), and libjpeg8 (8c-2ubuntu8) are all installed. Where do I go from here...?0 -

Thanks John--I got past the xmllint issue. I made it all the way to the "Install Logos etc. etc." window (*.msi), clicked "Next", and 30 minutes later, still nothing... This is the last message in the Terminal:

I installed Logos 10 yesterday and it's mostly working. OS is Ubuntu 22.04 and I followed the manual install directions. Wine version is 8.3 staging.
I was weeding down my collection because the installation downloaded over 800 resources. I was able to whittle this down by doing searches, selecting, and Remove from this device.
But now there are certain searches that cause it to crash. Searches I can do without crashing are "heiser", "wright", "brannan". But if I search "luther" or "commentary", it crashes. Also, if I'm in the main Library window, and start scrolling down, it crashes about the time I start getting into the C's.
It seems like there are certain resources that it's having trouble displaying.
Errors showing up on the terminal when I run from there include:
wincodecs:BitmapScaler_Initialize unsupported mode 3
and

I went ahead and tried again (renaming the 'failed' install folder). This time I got all the way to "Logos Bible installed! Do you want to run it?" I clicked Yes, but nothing. I navigated to the LogosBible10 folder and tried to run ./Logos.sh, but nothing. No errors in Terminal (good!), but no Logos (not good...). System Monitor doesn't show any Logos processes running. I'll try logging out and back in again to see if that fixes anything.
Edit: Logging out / in fixed nothing. :-\

The installer can’t verify the download. So my guess is you have a corrupt download of either wine or the logos installer. I’d try to remove any previous downloads from you Download folder and try again. Sorry it’s proving a challenge.

Try deleting the library catalogue. I think there is instructions somewhere earlier in this thread.

Thanks John. I found the post (just a page back) where --remove-library-catalog was used on startup. Tried that & noted that my resources were all re-downloading, but still the search function (depending on what I'm searching) and scrolling cause a crash.
It's ok though. I was able to select all resources & remove and replace just the ones I wanted. I just don't have the freedom to go scrolling through everything.

Is there a wiki page that gets updated on how to install L10 on Linux? Or is this thread the only option? I am asking because the thread is long, and for those who have not followed it for some time may miss out on the valuable input to help get L10 started on a Linux machine.

If you follow the manual installation, you won't need that installer link.
You will need to get Wine installed. If you're using Ubuntu, the instructions for that are here: https://wiki.winehq.org/Ubuntu

Where do you find LogosInstaller.exe (or LogosSetup.exe; both are mentioned in the wiki...)? Going to "Download Logos" at their site doesn't seem to show a download link (https://www.logos.com/get-started). The ferion11 script downloads Logos_v23.2.0.0035-x64.msi, but running:
WINEPREFIX=~/Logos10/data wine64 /Downloads/Logos_v23.2.0.0035-x64.msi
didn't work...
Logos Downloads Archive (https://wiki.logos.com/Logos_Downloads_Archive#Current_Supported_Stable_version_of_Logos_.2f_Verbum_.3a) has what looks like a link for "Windows 10 or 11" (https://www.logos.com/downloads/299), but it downloads LogosMac.dmg. :-(
Edit: On a lark, I tried https://www.logos.com/downloads/298 and it downloaded LogosSetup.exe (543 kB). In the absence of anything else, I'll give that a try!
Edit 2: No dice... "Application could not be started, or no application associated with the specified file. ShellExecuteEx failed: Path not found." <sigh>

I actually logged into Windows in order to download that, since Logos doesn't offer a download if it detects a Linux machine.

I think I figured out my problem: I hadn't gone all the way back to '/home/*username*/' in the path--I had just been starting at /Downloads/... Ooof.
I'm finally at a "Welcome to Logos Bible Software Setup" window. Here's hoping!

I think I've got a running version of Logos 10...? <muted celebration!> It has crashed a heap of times, but it has also been downloading 'updates' and indexing a LOT, so I'm willing to cut it a bit of slack. A bit! ;-) But it does seem to have settled down and I can open a saved Layout without it crashing. Many progress!
Thanks Dan T for the hint about trying the Manual install! It was a bit involved for this Linux novice, but I seem to have gotten there eventually. One tip for those who try this method--or maybe any method, I don't know: At one point in the install there's a window that asks for your Logos username and password. Almost all of that window was blank for me... I had opened on top of another, mostly white window, but there was just about nothing that looked window-ish about it. In fact, I thought the installation had hung, but then I noticed a little "Logos version 23" down in the corner. I started clicking around and suddenly a 'field' popped into view! I typed my Logos e-mail, hit Tab, and was taken to the password field. With each interaction, the window was populated with more features, but initially it was pretty much blank... Anyway, if that helps someone, great! If not, just be thankful it didn't happen to you. :-P

Paul, sorry you've had a challenge to get it working. If you have crashes it would be really helpful for you to save the terminal output into a txt file and post it to us on the telegram group. https://t.me/linux_logos
It is very stable for me, I can't resolve crashes unless we can collect the data. I know others are having some indexer crashes.
Other crashes are usually due to missing dependencies which the script does help with. E.g. if you manually install you can get it going without installing samba packages but you will likely get crashes etc.
