CRASH: About 1/3 of the time I attempt to launch the app
About one out of three or so times when I launch the Logos 4 app, it fails to start--the loading screen before it brings up the home page shows up for a bit and then disappears. Do you need any more technical info from me?

If you would enable logs each time you start until you can capture the log files of the crash, there's not much to go on. Attach the logs and we'll probably find the problem.

Summary - if you do not have a fast enough Internet connection the program will time out and iphone OS stops the program after it fails to start within 30 seconds. If Logos cannot find the home server in that time it will then be closed by the OS. Solution is to go into airplane mode temporarily while opening. Of course then you would only have the books you have already downloaded. Or you can go into Airplane mode and the immediately back to normal mode to force the network to reset for you.
