Improvement: Notes view menu requires two clicks where one will do.

I usually keep my notes file display in the "compact" view so all I see are the headers. When I'm done creating or editing a note, I want the display to go back into the compact view so I click on the word "compact" which immediately makes that change.
However, this action ALSO makes the view drop-down menu appear and I find that I'm forced to click on the word "compact" which is now in a different physical location again so the program will release focus and let me get on with my work. Of course this isn't an issue in the other views.
It would help me stay focused on the work I want to accomplish if I only had to click once to go back to the compact view.
Thanks.
Have a great day,

Hmm...I tried doing it your way and it doesn't close the note (I am on a Mac, so that might be it).
However, I did find a way to close the note and return to the compact view. Click in the space between the yellow note icon and the reference/title:
Does that work for you?

If you hit "esc", does it collapse the note for you? You also should be able to click any other blank space in the panel to deselect the current note.

No, "esc" doesn't do anything.
You also should be able to click any other blank space in the panel to deselect the current note.
Yes, this works...thanks.
