I made a external back-up of the old Logos 4 folder.

What do you mean "hidden folder"? I can't speak for Mac, but in windows the Logos folder resides in the AppData. This folder is hidden by default, but the user has the option to show all hidden folders. I assume Mac has something similar. Is that what you are talking about?

On Mac Logos installed to a hidden folder so i needed to use a app to make it be seen.

I just want to be able to install Logos in the place i want. Not do the automatic Mac install.

I am not sure it is possible... What I would recommend is going into your user library (easily do it by holding the option key and Library will appear in your go menu in the finder).  After finding the the Logos folder in Application support, I would suggest you make an alias and place it wherever you want... Logos program is not confused and you have your installation folder to place wherever you want. I know this is not perfect but not a bad option.

I may have it going i think.. i made a new folder and copied the install file to that folder and then started the app.

But I also have to download all my resources because i didn't make sure that i had a good backup; and i deleted the old folder with 32 GB of Logos [:(]

I check my external backup and i do have a backup, so i do have a backup from a few months ago. But i will need to use the scan command what was the command for that?

    Thanks Dan btw.

P.S. i started the install, can someone that knows about the OS X tell me how I can more the Logos installation to the folder i would like it to be in.  I have only used the MacBook Pro for five months so I am still learning.  Thank You.

Instructions on how to install Logos in a different folder or drive: https://wiki.logos.com/Install_in_different_folder_or_drive

Keep in mind that you'll have you use symlinks to make it work, which can be a bit tricky if you haven't used them before.

EDIT: Another, simpler way to do what you want is to drag the Logos folder to the sidebar in the Finder. Then whenever you wanted to go to it, it would only be a click away.

Also—you can unhide the Library folder, permanently or temporarily. Just google for instructions.

It is my understanding that there isn't a supported method for doing so. For clarification: FL doesn't install itself in a hidden folder... Rather, Apple, for the past several years, has chosen to hide the user library. There are a number of methods to unhide the library, both temporary and permanently.

Why do you desire to move the installation? I know that you want it in a "non hidden" folder, but why? Maybe we can help you trouble shoot other options.

Oh, I just wanted the permanently unhide the user library.

Also can the current installation be renamed as "Logos 6" ? How is this done ?

Unfortunately, for technical reasons, the installation will always be called Logos4 on OS X. This is true even of a totally fresh install.

Memory may be a tad fuzzy, but her tis the scenario as I remember it.

Logos included the version number in the directory chain when Logos 4 was introduced. Then, when Logos 5 came along, they discovered that the folder name could not be changed without completely rebuilding the entire installation. Rather than creating havoc on every Mac user's system, they chose to leave the Logos4 folder intact. In hindsight they should have left the version number out of the chain, but hindsight is not foresight.

    Logos wiki => https://wiki.logos.com/Install_in_different_folder_or_drive#Relocate_your_folder_with_Resources.2c_Indexes.2c_.2e.2e.2e includes:

OS X default is your ~/Library folder being hidden, with many ways to see contents => http://www.macworld.com/article/161156/2011/07/view_library_folder_in_lion.html and can assign keyboard shortcut => http://mac.finerthingsin.com/post/7849528212/lion-library-folder-visible

Yes, after renaming Logos4 to "Logos 6", will need to create a symbolic link for Logos4 (for use by Logos Bible Software application)
