Building a commentary collection - help!

Hi all, I'm getting increasingly frustrated trying to create a collection so I thought I'd come here for help - the user guides I've looked at haven't helped me work out whats going wrong.

I want to add the New American commentary series, the Socio-rhetorical commentary series, the Bible Backgrounds series and the NIVAC commentary series (after which I'll drag a few resources to minus as applicable, that bit I understand).

I've tried "series:Socio-Rhetorical" (which brings up results), but as soon as I added "OR series:New American", I lost all the socio-rhetorical commentaries from the results and just got the New American commentaries.

I thought: fine, I'll do a search for each series in turn, then select-all for that series and drag them up to the "Plus these resources" box and move on to the next, but it only drags the top result.

I can't even work out how to search for just bible commentaries - "type:bible commentary" (with no other text) brings up 0 results (type:commentary works, but thats not what I'm after).

What am I doing wrong?!

I don't have any of the Socio-Rhetorical series, but the following worked for me picking Word and NAC commentaries:

    series:("Word Biblical","New American") AND type:commentary

You needed quote marks before and after "New American" in your search string.

I've now achieved the desired result through rather laborious dragging and dropping, but I'd love to know what I should have entered for future reference.

    EDIT: Ah, thanks Greg!

Sorry - just realised I do have the Socio-Rhetorical commentaries and the following search string works fine:

    series:("socio","New American") AND type:commentary

I can't even work out how to search for just bible commentaries - "type:bible commentary" (with no other text) brings up 0 results (type:commentary works, but thats not what I'm after).

    This should be: type:"bible commentary"

When "type" is inside the quotes, it treats the entire string as a phrase.

One library filter (or collection rule) is:

    Series:("IVP Bible","New American","NIV Application",Socio)

Another library filter (or collection rule) is:

    Type:Commentary Series:(IVP,New,NIV,Socio) Series:(Background, American,Application,Rhetorical) -Title:on

I can't even work out how to search for just bible commentaries - "type:bible commentary" (with no other text) brings up 0 results (type:commentary works, but thats not what I'm after).

    Type:("Bible Commentary","Bible Notes")
