Highlighting a temporary resource

I'm thinking about this off the back of the free temporary access that Faithlife has given for The Mingling of Souls, but it would apply to Logos Now users too, I guess. I've highlighted a passage from this book, and I'm wondering if that means the highlighted quote will remain with me if I choose not to keep the book, or if I need to copy & paste the text into a note/take a clipping.

I don't know if any of these rely on the continued presence of the original resource.

I <think> the answer is "no." I <think> clippings might be different.

Of course, it depends on what you mean by "remain with me." If you purchase the book at a later date, the highlights would likely be there.

    • In a "highlight" note, the first line isn't a "quote" line but a SUBJECT/TITLE line for the highlight.
    • There isn't a "quote" field in the highlight note, but there is a quote view... Presumably that is just a visual filter kind of thing. If you don't have the book, you won't see the quote in "quote view."

You could potentially test this by making notes/highlights in a resource, then hiding it. I think you would need to rebuild your index too. It is probably a waste of time to do so however.

I'm pretty sure this is true as well. I do know that tagging remains as I tagged a number of "cloud" books that later I purchased and their tagging remained.
