Can I assume that after the version 6.9 soon Logos 7 follows (possibly this year)?
The numbering brings me to such thoughts (after 6.9 is 7 or not?) ...
No, it could go 6.10 6.11 and on.... It was discussed before here in forums
According of their previous 2 year cycle it should be released this fall
Yes, perhaps this Fall.
The numbering brings me to such thoughts (after 6.9 is 7 or not?) ..
No, not because 7 comes after 6.9. In software, the second number (or third, or fourth, etc) is an independent version number. We'll see 6.10, 6.11, 6.12, and so on before we see Logos 7.

Completely funny how this keeps coming up [:)]
Though to all who subscribe to Logos Now it has to be even more funnier as we currently enjoy Logos 7 [:P]

Thanks for the answers!
Then we can expect Logos 7 this year.
The Logos 5 Release (Nov 2012) - Logos 6 release (Oct 2014) = 2-year cycleLogos 7 release perhaps in Sept / Oct 2016 ...

That would be a definite maybe [:P]

But not on the basis of version numbering as originally suggested. We will see 6.10, etc. over the next several months, then (if the plan remains for a two-year cycle of major versions) a likely October/November release.
But only Faithlife knows, and they decide what to say about it and when. The rest is just us speculating.
Although on my understanding we will lose all the new Logos 7 bits as soon as it gets embedded in the new 7 base packages, which is an aspect of Logos Now that is a bit counterintuitive.

I don't believe this is going to be the case. FL has way to much to lose. I will keep my Now Subscription into Logos 7 and believe while there will be a crossgrade fee, in the end it will be made sensible.
I believe that to be incorrect. Logos Now is the beginning of subscribing to updates.
Logos Now is the beginning of subscribing to updates.
Agreed, but a most concerning thought.
If I subscribed to all software which I purchased a full license for in recent years, I'd pay $100 each month.
It doesn't sound like a lot, but after 5 or 10 years, that's a massive amount, and I own nothing afterwards. Can't even install it without paying another $100.
I prefer paying a lot less, but maybe not always having the latest version with all features. I don't mind staying on MS Office 2013 for a couple more years for example. It will receive updates and bugfixes until 2020. (Just for anti virus I need daily updates; that's the only software I've subscribed to.)
I have mixed thoughts. I am not a "subscribe to software" person. Bob has said that FL will support the "buy" model as long as there is still a demand for it. I believe he is honest in that statement. I also believe he would like everyone to move to the "subscribe" model. He has stated the reason: it helps to "level" the revenue for the company. As is, FL gets a large influx of revenue every 2 years, and like Joseph, has to plan for those lean years. I understand why this is a good deal for them. I hope users (including me!) can still "buy" for a long time.
I also can appreciate the "service" element of Logos Now. I LOVE Amazon Prime and they keep adding things to it. Logos Now is completely different, but Bob has used Prime as an example of the kind of things they would like to do.

MSFT does a disservice to their customers by charging so much and supporting the software for so long. It is in most parties interest to continue to have the latest software, especially the OS.
Agreed on the OS, but that's not so costly anyway.

I agree with your point. To pay $100 per months for all software you dont own, you would spend total $6000. A lot of people just dont realize how much money they are throwing away
PS: If they drop subscription after paying $6k, they would get nothing...
I heard they are waiting until the Logos Windows App is ready and touch functionality within the Bible software exists (he he)
A lot of people just dont realize how much money they are throwing away
A lot of people have done the math including upgrades and have come to the conclusion it is not money "thrown away" but it actually cheaper for them given their hardware and software upgrade patterns. For some purchasing is best; for others, subscription is best. I'm glad to have the option.
Hope for a NO, but save for a "YES"..
Logos 7 and Subscription thoughts...
I have well over $10,000 invested in Logos. I may well increase that substantially in the next decade. If I break that down over something like 20 years, I wonder if I would be willing to have my same library by paying $60-$100/mo by subscription? A Logos-Cloud type subscription might be a better deal. For such a price to me and the incentive to FL to provide it because of a steady, fairly reliable income, I might end up with a much better deal even than I have now. Yet, knowing me, I would never do that. Just wouldn't.
I don't own a subscription, cant sell it, can't give it to my children, and my future financial situation might make subscribing unlikely--then I would have nothing. I just plain don't like software subscriptions (even thought I have some). Note: I didn't mind magazine subscriptions in the Old Days, because if you quit subscribing, at least you could stack them in dusty piles in the garage. So maybe a subscription model would be more enticing if we could own something like 10% of what we subscribe to each year--or you keep it if you subscribe to it for 5 years, or pay half after 5 years or something. Something like that might be a strong motivator for subscriptions. You can tell I am not a marketer or accountant, so somebody else do something better with this idea.
On the other hand, if I don't have a bundle of cash sitting around, a subscription allows me to still have a really nice library. Or perhaps subscription is inevitable, because times will change, and essential functions only possible vie the cloud will only be available, so we will like subscription more than we dislike it. On the other hand....
Switching gears to Logos Now (LN)...
The present awkward mixed bag of buy it or rent it or augment it will likely smooth out, yet I wonder, what LN features will appear in Logos 7 to make L7 worth the upgrade. Presently, there are a few substantial perks in LN, but not enough for me to subscribe--so how much would an upgrade to L7 be worth? If many worthwhile LN features are included in L7, then there might be diminished motivation to continue subscribing to LN. If many features are withheld, is there enough advantage to L7 to be worth the upgrade?
Perhaps many LN features would become L7 upgrades, but there would be a handful of delightful new worthwhile surprises in the new LN.
All that to say, that unless there are substantial new LN features to soon be revealed, or unknown L7 improvements not revealed by LN, this might still be a bit early to expect L7.
For some purchasing is best; for others, subscription is best. I'm glad to have the option.
Agreed and I too am glad to have the option.
Bob has said that FL will support the "buy" model as long as there is still a demand for it.
I continue to take comfort in those words too. I just hope the demand continues.

Take a second mortgage on your castle and spend the proceeds on Logos resources [H]
If the future is subscription I'm done with Logos!
