Question Collections -Tags

Hi everybody
this may be a stupid question, If I create collections,
am I duplicating by creating tags In resources,
How do collections work differently than tagging books

If you create a Collection you don't do anything with the Book itself. You just create a Rule to show Books.
If you Tag a Book you change the Book itself.
Collection are good to bind Books together like All Books with mytag:1,2,or 3 AND all Books type:theology
hope this helps

You often need to tag resources in order to create collections, because you are creating metadata that isn't available with the resource in order to put it into the collection e.g. a collection that provides resources on the subject of Creation has this rule:
subject:creation OR mytag:creation
where I want resources that come tagged with the subject and others that I had to tag myself.

Every tag is its own collection.

The Book resource downloaded from Faithlife servers remains the same. Adding tag(s) to a resource causes tag value(s) to be inserted in your library database. When a book is added to your library, rows are inserted with resource information (with default of no tags).
Thankful can now sort library by tags plus easily change or remove tag(s).
Personally use a mix of dynamic rules and tagging. Vyrso eBooks do not have Series and Subject metadata information. Also use tags for when purchased, language morphology, and desired subset of resources for searching: e.g. "Bible Grid Favorites" (for use in Bible Search with Grid results).
Logos wiki has many examples => https://wiki.logos.com/Example_Collections
Counsel + Psychology has rule:
Mytag:Counsel OR Subject:(Counsel, Living, “Pastoral Care”, Psychology) OR Title:(Counsel, “Pastoral Care”, Psychology)
that includes collection of resources with Counsel tag plus Logos resources that match one or more terms in Subject list plus Logos & Vyrso resources that match one or more terms in Title list. Screen shot highlights matching item(s) for collection inclusion:
