library download problem

I just purchased Logos 6 Diamond version about 5 days ago. I have been trying for a few day to get the library to download and its just not progressing. It downloads so slowly that completely shuts down other functions of the computer and then eventually the computer turns off from not being used and I need to start all over again. I would literally need to be using my computer for 30 hours straight to make sure it downloads without turning off and having to begin all over again.

Hi Michael - and welcome to the forums
Sorry to hear you are having problems.
Please give us a bit more information so we can try and work out what is going on:
- Are you running on a Mac or PC platform?
- Which version of OS X or Windows
- What version of Logos 6 software do you have?
- What network bandwidth do you have?

open the Windows Control Panel - go to "System and Security" -> System and it should tell you there

That is the base package not the version of the software - sorry it can be confusing.
In the Logos window click on the "?" at the top right and then select "About Logos Bible Software". The version number should be under "Tech Support Information" on the left

Do you know / can you find out what the download speed is?

Diamond contains around 13.5GB.
So the time to download can be "guestimated" by combining this figure with the download speed of your network connection (other factors may apply)

-Logos 6.9
-not sure about the speed; I probably could find out by Friday from someone in the church

Thanks for the assistance. I think I'm going to set it aside and see if someone at the church can get it installed. Sounds like my internet connection needs to be a much higher speed or it will take all day!

I would ask what "kind" of computer. A desktop or a laptop. Usually what I will suggest looking at affects a laptop more often but whatever...
You say that the computer keeps shutting off.... that is most likely because you have some level of power saving set ON.
Go to your control panel, and open the "Power Options" dialog.
You probably have "Recommended Settings" selected. It does not matter which "Plan" you have selected, you just need to adjust the settings to that plan.
To the right of "Recommended Settings" (or the plan's name) you should see "Change Plan Settings".
Click on "Change Plan Settings" and you will see a drop-down that allows you to change when the screen will shut off and when the computer will go to sleep. Change them both to "never".
You can go back and reset them to whatever they were before the change AFTER you get the downloads completed.
Just a suggestion and I would not be insulted if you chose to not follow it. Some people are simply leery of following instructions given by people they do not personally know anything about. And that is not a bad thing either. [:^)]
