Getting L4 not L3 to open

I am trying to get a hyperlink to open a book from a reading list as described in a video. I am always getting L3 to open and that is it....No book. I am the only User registered on this computer. Win XP SR3. Below is a picture of my registry.

I have tried it with and without the quotes on the Data Value. When it stated to restart...I tried restarting L4 at first. Then I thought....That is a registry change so I restarted the computer.

Any suggestions?

You're missing one level in the registry hierarchy (the key where that Data Value goes is command, which is a subkey of open). It should be like this:

I've had to change the libronixdls/shell/open registry key in two different parts of my registry tree in order to get it to work correctly. Most of the branches in the registry where it occurs seem to be all linked together so that if you change one, the other ones change, but there seem to be two completely independent sets of branches you need to change. I can't remember which ones they are, but you can figure it out: Search for libronixdls starting from the beginning of your registry, and look into the open key for each one (keep pressing F3 to Find Next until you get to the end of the registry), and verify that every single occurrence has got logos4 in there instead of ldls.exe (Libronix/Logos 3).

The quotes around te path to Logos4.exe shouldn't matter in your case because you don't have a space anywhere in the path (I do, so I need them). Also, I'm not sure if it matters, but I have quotes around the parameter (%1) too, and a space between the closing quote after Logos4.exe and the opening quote for the %1, like this:

"C:\Users\Rosie Perera\AppData\Local\Logos4\Logos4.exe" "%1"

I don't know whether libronixdls links can ever have spaces embedded in them. I haven't seen any cases of it yet but that's not to say it can't happen. In any event the extra quotation marks will be harmless if they are not needed.

you mention each open key....will they also have the command part as well?

Yes, you can add a new key in the registry. This is tricky stuff and you can mess up your registry if you're not careful (but it sounds like it's already messed up, so you probably need to do this). They always recommend doing a backup of the registry "hive" (the root of a particular branch, such as HKEY_CURRENT_USER) that you're making changes in. Select that hive and do File > Export and give a name for the .reg file (should you ever need to restore from a saved .reg file you'd just double click on it and confirm to have it added back into your registry). Adding new keys is less risky than deleting them.

To add the command key: Select the open key nested inside libronixdls. From the menu, choose Edit > New > Key. Type command, and press Enter. Then with this new command key selected, double-click on the "(Default)" value name over in the right panel. Then you can paste in the proper Logos4 text for that Value Data, and click OK.

They should. If they don't yet, you will have to add them there, too. This should have all gotten set up for you correctly when you installed Logos 4, so I'm surprised they're in the wrong place. Is this the first time you've edited your registry to look at these settings? Did you ever re-install Logos 3 again after first installing Logos 4? I'm concerned that you got into this messed up state somehow, and this should be reported to Logos so they can figure out if they did something wrong in the installation process on your machine. Direct them to this thread so they can see what I've been instructing you to do to fix it, in case I'm telling you something you should not be doing. (In other words, they might prefer to have you uninstall and reinstall Logos 4; they won't take responsibility if you mess something up on your own by editing your registry. And I won't either... [:)])

search from the HKEY Part?

Scroll all the way up to the top of the registry and click on Computer (the parent node of all the HKEY "hives") and search from there. Actually, you don't have to search for all occurrences if you don't want to. Just navigate to these two keys and make sure the shell\open\command key under both of them is set up correctly and that should change all the other places automatically:
