Bug: hanging when offline

Running L6.10b1 on Mac OS X 10.11.2

When I first installed the update the application kept on hanging and needing to be force quit. I got samplings of logs for a couple of those times... Eventually that cleared up to where it seemed workable, but now whenever I work offline the "preparing library" indicator remains displayed indefinitely and My Passage Guide totally fails. Every section refuses to expand, sitting there "working" for many minutes (see screen shot).

Another scenario ... startup online, then switch off wi-Fi before quitting the application. Choosing to quit the application will close the window(s), but will not actually quit the process and Logos will need to be force quit.

Attached are logs before the application was force quit.

Choosing to "work off-line" during the startup process now respects my preferred start up layout, but now the "preparing your library" indicator remains as long as resources which opened during startup remain open. For example, to test this I opened to a layout with only the ESV and a passage guide open. All sections of the passage guides were, and remained, collapsed. The only way to remove that "preparing your library" indicator was to switch the ESV to another Bible.

If choosing to quit the application before switching out the ESV, the application would become unresponsive and need to be forced quit.

EDIT: I like that the "work off-line" option respects my startup layout, but perhaps this is a bug since several anomalies would be resolved if opening to a blank layout. If it is intended to respect the startup layout, we should at least have the option (for example with a checkbox) to start up to a blank layout.

Bump - Faithlife

In Beta 2 I'm now able to quit successfully, but the program is still unresponsive and continues to hang continuously. It's largely unusable when "working offline" (not via "use internet>no").

EDIT: The problem does occur when offline via the preferences setting.

To reproduce

1. Open ESV and Passage Guide (collapse all PG sections)

2. In preferences set "use internet" to "no"

3. In preferences ensure that the current layout will open on startup (either most recent, or "layout-name").

4. Restart application (make sure it opens to the above layout with PG sections collapsed).

5. Click on the commentaries section of PG to expand (note how it is "working" and also note that you may see the blue "preparing library" badge in the toolbar).

6. Click the parallel resources button on the ESV and switch to a different Bible (I switched to NET), and watch the "preparing library" badge disappear and the PG commentaries section suddenly populate.

It looks like the indicator is only appearing in the "normal" momentary fashion. Also the guide sections do populate eventually now, though they still take "a coon's age" to do so.

At least it's progress, huh?! 😁😃
